  • Completed coursework in statics and mechanics of materials by the start of the internship.
  • Completed at least two design courses (e.g., concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by the start of the internship.
  • Basic understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, including free-body diagrams and shear, axial, and moment diagrams.
  • Interest in bridge engineering, transportation structures, and infrastructure design.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Previous internship, research, design-team, or field experience related to civil or structural engineering.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in bridge or transportation structural engineering.
