Job description

Scheduler

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

The Scheduler will support a utility client's capital project portfolio by developing, maintaining, and analyzing detailed project schedules using Primavera P6. This role partners closely with Project Managers, construction teams, and contractors to ensure schedule integrity, visibility into key milestones, and proactive management of schedule risks.

Experience supporting engineering and construction projects is required. Prior work in utility infrastructure, particularly hydroelectric or thermal generation, is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and report on P6 project schedules for an assigned portfolio of engineering and construction projects
  • Provide schedule analysis and status reporting, including identification of critical path activities and schedule variances
  • Highlight potential delays and upcoming milestones; recommend schedule mitigation strategies
  • Partner with Project Managers to update schedules, validate progress, and support forecast accuracy
  • Identify root causes of schedule variances and collaborate with Project Controls and Analytics (PCA) teams to support cost and spend forecasting
  • Lead or support schedule re-baselining efforts with approval from the Lead Scheduler and Project Manager
  • Participate in and, as needed, lead project-level schedule review meetings
  • Review and evaluate change orders for schedule impact and advise Project Managers accordingly
  • Perform quality control / quality assurance on all schedule updates
  • Validate and review contractor-provided schedules for accuracy, logic, and compliance
  • Serve as a liaison with contractor scheduling resources
  • Respond to all Unifier workflow requests in a timely and accurate manner
  • Participate in development of scheduling strategies, standards, and process improvement initiatives

Work Model: Hybrid (23 days per week in-office). Candidates must be local to be considered or willing to relocate.

Here's what you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience scheduling engineering and construction projects
  • Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Construction experience is required (infrastructure or energy projects preferred)
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, timelines, and industry practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, management, and contractors

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting utility clients
  • Experience with hydroelectric, thermal, or power generation projects
  • Experience on large-scale infrastructure construction projects
  • Prior experience using Oracle Unifier
  • Familiarity with utility capital programs or regulated environments
