Job descriptionFull-Time Environmental Operator Tech – Chicago, IL (Temp-to-hire position) Our client, a leading provider of electroless nickel plating solutions with over 120 years of industry experience, is seeking an Environmental Operator to support its environmental and wastewater operations. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the wastewater treatment system, monitoring hazardous waste, completing required inspections and documentation, and ensuring environmental processes remain in compliance with state and federal regulations. Job Responsibilities · Operate & maintain the wastewater treatment system & related equipment. · Perform appropriate wastewater and environmental testing and accurately maintain required documentation. · Monitor the movement, removal, storage, tracking, labeling, and shipment of hazardous waste containers. · Complete scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections of designated areas, equipment, and processes. · Perform maintenance on wastewater treatment system equipment. · Monitor water treatment and wastewater operations to help ensure compliance with state and federal environmental protection limits. · Clean and maintain the water treatment area, outside yard, baghouses, stormwater routes, and surrounding areas. · Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all required areas. · Follow established safety procedures and company policies at all times. Job Requirements • 2–5 years of experience in a hazardous material production environment and/or maintaining a wastewater treatment system required. • High School diploma or GED required. • Forklift experience required. • Must be flexible and willing to work any shift. • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Basic math and computer skills required. • Strong attention to safety and ability to follow established procedures • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Class K Operator’s License preferred. • Ability to work in an industrial environment and consistently use required PPE.
