Technology Strategy Consultant
U.S. Bank is looking for a Technology Strategy Consultant to help shape enterprise-wide technology direction and influence how technology supports business priorities across the bank. This role sits within the Technology Strategy & Transformation organization and is designed for someone with a strong consulting mindset who excels at research, synthesis, and executive-level communication.
This role serves as a key contributor to enterprise technology strategy, providing research-driven insights that support senior leadership decision-making. The individual partners closely with executive-level technology leaders and other senior stakeholders to shape and communicate technology strategy, translate complex inputs into clear strategic narratives, and support alignment between enterprise priorities, technology direction, and execution teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted technology strategy consultant to executive-level technology leaders and other senior stakeholders.
- Research, gather, and synthesize internal and external information on emerging technologies, industry trends, peer activity, and strategic threats.
- Translate complex data, research, and inputs into clear insights, strategic viewpoints, and executive-ready narratives.
- Build models, frameworks, and storytelling artifacts that connect technology, business capabilities, and enterprise strategy.
- Partner with leaders across the organization to shape and refine enterprise technology strategy.
- Support alignment between enterprise strategy, technology strategy, and execution teams.
- Contribute to board-level and executive strategy materials, including quarterly and semi-annual reporting.
- Maintain a strong foundational understanding of modern technologies and how they interconnect, without being a hands-on coder.
- Demonstrate strong executive presence and the ability to influence upward.
Must-Have Skills:
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong consulting background, ideally from a top-tier consulting firm.
- Experience in or strong exposure to financial services and/or large, complex enterprise environments.
- Proven experience advising senior leaders on strategy rather than executing delivery or implementation work.
- Strong understanding of modern technology concepts and how technologies interconnect.
- Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and research into clear insights and strategic narratives.
- Excellent executive communication skills and strong executive presence.
- Ability to build credibility and influence executive-level technology leaders and senior leaders.
- Forward-looking, research-driven, self-starter mindset.
Preferred Skills:
- Business architecture experience or certification.
- Experience aligning business capabilities to enterprise or technology strategy.
- Comfort using data to support storytelling (e.g., Power BI or similar tools).
- Prior experience supporting board-level or executive (quarterly or semi-annual) strategy reporting.
- Experience contributing to annual strategy development, roadmaps, or long-term planning efforts.
