About the Role

The Director of Plant Operations plays a key leadership role in maintaining our community's safety, appearance, and functionality. This position supports an 87-unit assisted living and memory care community.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily and preventative maintenance, building systems, grounds, housekeeping operations, and emergency preparedness. The Director of Plant Operations leads the maintenance and housekeeping team and ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, guests, and team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent daily maintenance of the building exterior, including lawns, plants, walkways, driveways, and parking lots.
  • Oversee interior maintenance and housekeeping, including apartments, common areas, offices, and storage areas.
  • Interview, hire, train, and supervise the maintenance and housekeeping team members.
  • Repair building systems and equipment, or coordinate repairs with outside contractors.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace, storing equipment and supplies appropriately.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all technical systems (phone, cable, computer, security cameras, door locks, Ciscor, etc.).
  • Lead emergency preparation and response, including fire safety training and drills.
  • Manage department budgets and order maintenance/housekeeping supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional maintenance experience
  • Leadership experience managing teams and contractors
  • Maintains current CPR and first aid certification as necessary to fulfill state regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, electronic, or schedule form.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, residents, employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret administrative regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Proficient PC skills, including e-mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
