Engen Contracting (ECI) is a commercial general contractor headquartered in Austin, Texas, serving clients throughout Central Texas while continuing to expand into other major Texas markets.

For nearly three decades, we've earned a reputation for delivering quality projects, building lasting client relationships, and fostering a culture centered on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Our portfolio includes ground-up and tenant improvement commercial projects across a variety of markets, including:

  • Retail

  • Restaurants

  • Self-Storage

  • Medical

  • Office & Office-Warehouse

  • Child Development & Education

  • General Office

  • Industrial & Light Commercial

We deliver projects of all sizes—from fast-paced tenant improvements to large-scale ground-up developments—providing opportunities to work on a diverse portfolio while growing your career.

At ECI, we believe our people are our greatest asset. We invest in professionals who take pride in their work, continually improve their craft, and genuinely care about the success of their clients and teammates.

The Opportunity

The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for leading all day-to-day field operations while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to ECI's quality standards.

Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. It requires leadership, communication, accountability, and the ability to proactively solve problems while building strong relationships with clients, trade partners, and project teams.

What You'll Do

Project Leadership

  • Lead field operations from mobilization through project completion.

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules (Microsoft Project experience is a plus).

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and consultants.

  • Conduct weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.

  • Drive production while maintaining quality, safety, and schedule expectations.

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce OSHA standards and ECI safety policies.

  • Conduct weekly toolbox safety meetings.

  • Coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.

  • Generate and manage punch lists through project closeout.

  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail throughout every phase of construction.

Communication & Documentation

  • Complete daily reports, progress photos, and project documentation in Procore.

  • Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, Engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.

  • Respond promptly to requests from office staff and project stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Field Coordination

  • Interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP construction documents.

  • Coordinate subcontractor scheduling and sequencing.

  • Review and verify subcontractor change orders.

  • Manage material deliveries, equipment logistics, and overall site coordination.

  • Identify challenges early and proactively develop effective solutions.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • Experience as a Superintendent with a Commercial General Contractor.

  • Experience managing ground-up and tenant improvement commercial construction projects.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

  • High ethical standards and accountability.

  • Strong understanding of civil, structural, architectural, and MEP coordination.

  • The ability to motivate subcontractors while maintaining schedule, safety, and quality expectations.

  • A commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification (preferred)

  • Procore experience

  • Microsoft Project experience

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

  • Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.

What We Value

At ECI, we look for professionals who:

  • Take ownership of their work.

  • Lead with integrity.

  • Build strong relationships with clients and trade partners.

  • Communicate proactively and professionally.

  • Solve problems before they become issues.

  • Support and develop their teammates.

  • Continuously improve both personally and professionally.

  • Take pride in delivering exceptional commercial construction projects.

Why Join ECI?

At ECI, Superintendents do more than manage jobsites—they lead field teams, build lasting client relationships, mentor trade partners, and play a critical role in delivering successful projects.

We invest in our people because we believe our greatest competitive advantage is the strength of our team.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with Company Match

  • Professional Development Opportunities

  • Strong Leadership Support

  • Collaborative Team Environment

  • Long-Term Career Growth

  • Diverse Commercial Project Portfolio

If you're looking for a company where your leadership matters, your contributions are recognized, and your career has room to grow, we'd love to hear from you.

Join Engen Contracting and help us build the future of commercial construction.

Additional Information
  • This is a full-time position based within your assigned market.

  • This is typically not a traveling Superintendent position. While occasional travel may be required, our goal is to keep our Superintendents working within their assigned market.

  • A valid Texas Driver's License is required. Candidates relocating from out of state must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 60 days of employment.

  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

  • As part of our hiring process, candidates complete a behavioral assessment. This assessment helps us better understand communication styles, strengths, and work preferences and is one of several tools we use to support long-term success for both our employees and our team.

  • Certain phases of a project may require additional hours to meet critical project milestones.

  • ECI does not sponsor employment visas, including H-1B status.

  • No third-party recruiters, please.

  • Engen Contracting is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
