Position Overview
The Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that both in‑process and finished powder coating products meet all quality and performance standards prior to release. You’ll conduct hands‑on laboratory testing, investigate nonconforming results, and collaborate closely with production and cross‑functional teams to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
This role carries real responsibility and authority—you are trusted to protect product integrity and customer satisfaction every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality control testing on in‑process and finished powder coating products
- Prepare and evaluate spray panels, measure gloss, and verify color accuracy
- Investigate out‑of‑spec results using root cause analysis and recommend clear corrective actions
- Confirm, document, and approve finished product quality for final release
- Exercise stop authority and halt production when quality standards are not met
- Collect samples from production areas for laboratory testing
- Accurately enter test data, results, and documentation into SAP
- Use Microsoft Office tools to analyze, track, and communicate quality findings
- Take ownership of quality decisions with a strong sense of accountability
- Partner with production and other teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of quality control experience
- Quality experience in paints, coatings, inks, or similar industries preferredExperience from food or pharmaceutical manufacturing will also be considered
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Ability to conduct effective root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
- Confidence in exercising stop authority when products are out of specification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow procedures and document results
- Comfort working in a manufacturing and powder environment and entering production areas
- Strong decision‑making skills with high ownership and accountability
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.64 - $24.64/hr.
