Staff Accountant

Reporting to the assistant controller, the staff accountant is responsible for day-to-day financial transactions for accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end close, and other ad hoc projects. This position will cross train to cover multiple functions and requires strong analytical, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills. The ideal candidate is dependable, accountable, and able to take ownership of responsibilities, deadlines, and results. The ability to collaborate efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality is crucial.
Primary duties include:
- Preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from various departments
- Preparing various month-end journal entries and maintaining required accounting schedules, such as prepaids and depreciation
- Preparing bank deposits and cash flow statements
- Preparing payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts
- Support of A/R function, including processing inbound POs, generating invoices, and posting deposits
- Answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Performing ad hoc analysis for finance and accounting, and other inter-departmental teams as needed
- Protecting organization's value by keeping confidential information
- Performing other tasks and duties as assigned by management
Education, knowledge, competencies, and skills required include:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Two (2) years bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Solid computer skills including strong MS Excel background (RentalMan experience is a plus)
- Demonstrates independence and accountability by taking ownership of assigned tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring accuracy of financial work
- High integrity and strong work ethic, maintaining confidentiality, sound ethical judgment, and honesty in all financial responsibilities
