Medical Assistant Sno-Isle Career Center

This is an 8.0 hour per day, 180 day Prof/Tech Paraeducator Medical Assistant position with benefits at the Sno-Isle Skills Center. Anticipated start date is September 8, 2026. Hours for this position are 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Preferred Qualifications: Active Washington Medical Assistant Certification with at least five years of clinical and training experience in a healthcare setting. Experience training in a healthcare related hospital/clinic/research facility.

Reports To: Director, Sno-Isle Technical Skills Center

Job Summary:

Assists in the management of the Medical Assisting Program activities under the guidance of the program instructor. Models integrity, professionalism and teamwork, supervises students for safety and provides instructional support, monitors the skill development of students, maintains classroom and clinical space organization and tidiness, maintains inventory and clinical supplies, facilitates the ordering and pick-up of supplies, donations, and other materials, inspects and maintains clinical equipment, helps to guide students in learning the MA scope of practice and ensure safety of the students at all times.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Assist instructor with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist instructor with monitoring both first and second year progress; share observations with instructor and other professional staff, as required.
  • Assist instructor with implementation of various strategies to address diverse student needs and support individual educational growth and achievement goals.
  • Provide administrative & clerical tasks and general classroom assistance for staff, which may include collection and data entry of information, correspondence, copying, filing, and preparation of classroom materials.
  • Facilitate completion of student projects/activities.
  • Assist students with various clinical and technical needs (tools, equipment, medical procedures, diagnostic procedures, facility maintenance and communication).
  • Assist with specific skill competency checkoffs as directed by instructor.
  • Maintain books, tools, classroom & clinical equipment, medical supplies, including checking books/equipment/lockers/items in and out.
  • Perform Inventory of program resources/equipment; assist in ordering and managing classroom & clinical resources and consumables as needed.
  • Supervise students as they maintain overall classroom & clinical sanitation & organization.
  • Model and enforce clinical safety and use of PPE; perform SDS management and maintenance.
  • Foster a welcoming and safe environment for students.
  • Assist in managing sharps, maintaining cleaning & disinfection protocols as needed.
  • Administer first aid and medical assistance as needed.
  • Facilitate completion of maintenance schedule for specialty equipment, including but not limited to simulated mannikins, autoclaves, EKG equipment, diagnostic monitoring tools, and other clinical equipment.
  • Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives, and addressing student needs.
  • Comply with District Policies.
  • Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours specified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Job Requirements; Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical assisting related processes and procedures, related clinical skills, and specialized equipment.
  • Knowledge of HIPPAA and FERPA requirements in the Medical Assistant Field.
  • Ability, desire and aptitude to work with high school age students.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical information.
  • Ability to write and document technical information.
  • Ability to work in a noisy/busy healthcare environment.
  • Skill and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with students, supervisors, staff and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to develop positive, amenable relationships with staff, students, and public.
  • Skill and ability to follow and give written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to keep accurate records.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the physical job requirements of a healthcare-related setting with or without reasonable accommodation, including utilizing adequate physical strength for lifting medical equipment, boxes, and other duties which may require lifting/pulling/pushing relates to this position.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 8 feet using a ladder to maintain storage of equipment.

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits) or have obtained an associate's (or higher) degree or have successfully passed the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
  • Possession of a current OSHA 10 safety training certification or completion of assigned training within 30 days of hire.
  • Possession of a current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness and ability to achieve within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Washington Driver's License, with acceptable driving record, as determined by the District through review of applicant-provided driver abstract.

Experience:

  • Active Washington Medical Assistant Certification with at least five years of clinical and training experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working in a healthcare-related hospital/clinic/research facility.
  • Experience working with high school aged students.
  • Experience training others.
