This position partners with Quality, clinical, operational, infection prevention, regulatory, and leadership stakeholders to translate business and clinical questions into reliable data products, clear insights, and governed, sustainable reporting solutions that are maintained throughout their life cycle. The Quality Management Data Analyst III serves as a subject-matter-expert for Microsoft Power BI, SQL-based analysis, data definitions, report modernization, and quality analytics standards, while helping build internal analytics capacity.

Position Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Microsoft Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer certification preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in analytics, data science, information systems, healthcare administration, business, public health, clinical discipline, or related field required.
  • Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or healthcare analytics required. Experience supporting quality, regulatory, patient safety, performance improvement, or hospital operations strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience using SQL to query, validate, reconcile, and assess data integrity across multiple databases required. Advanced experience designing and maintaining Microsoft Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations required. Experience publishing, troubleshooting, and optimizing governed Power BI reporting solutions required. Experience with dimensional modeling, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Purview, Epic, FHIR, data governance, or healthcare data warehouse environments preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities: Advanced analytical, technical, communication, and project management skills. Ability to independently lead complex analytics projects from requirements gathering through design, validation, deployment, adoption, and ongoing maintenance. Strong understanding of data quality, metric definitions, regulatory reporting, confidentiality, HIPAA-sensitive data handling, and stakeholder communication. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to clinical, operational, and executive audiences. Ability to manage competing priorities, mentor others, facilitate consensus around data definitions, and maintain a high degree of accuracy, dependability, and attention to detail. Proactively identify reporting gaps and efficiently move projects from intake through adoption with limited direction.

Essential Functions:

Enterprise Analytics and Reporting

  • Lead the design, development, validation, implementation, and ongoing optimization of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions that support clinical, operational, administrative, financial, regulatory, foundation, and strategic business functions.
  • Translate complex organizational questions into analytical frameworks, metrics, dashboards, data models, and actionable recommendations that support data-informed decisions at the department, committee, and executive levels.
  • Independently evaluate and scope analytics requests and recommend priorities in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders, considering organizational value and strategic alignment, regulatory urgency, data readiness, technical feasibility, resource requirements, and long-term supportability.
  • Use SQL, Power Query, DAX, and related tools to extract, transform, join, reconcile, and validate data from hospital systems, data warehouse environments, foundation or business systems, and other approved data sources.
  • Develop reporting solutions that balance accuracy, usability, sustainability, performance, confidentiality, and the needs of both technical and non-technical audiences.

Power BI and Microsoft Fabric Leadership

  • Serve as the hospital's subject-matter-expert for Microsoft Power BI and reporting, including semantic model design, DAX development, data visualization standards, report governance, workspace organization, and report life cycle management.
  • Support organization-wide implementation, adoption, and effective use of Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric by helping define reporting standards, development practices, access expectations, documentation requirements, and sustainable support models.
  • Collaborate with data owners and operational stakeholders to align reporting solutions with Microsoft Fabric architecture, approved data sources, data security expectations, and enterprise analytics priorities.
  • Establish, document, and follow appropriate development, testing, user acceptance, deployment, change-control, and retirement practices for assigned reporting assets, consistent with organizational standards.
  • Review and improve report logic, semantic models, data refresh processes, measure definitions, dashboard usability, and performance to strengthen trust and consistency in organizational reporting.
  • Monitor the reliability of assigned production reporting solutions, investigate failures or material discrepancies, communicate impacts to affected stakeholders, and coordinate timely correction and validation.
  • Evaluate reporting needs and recommend whether solutions should be addressed through enterprise dashboards, departmental Power BI reports, governed semantic models, manual analysis, or other approved reporting approaches.

Data Governance, Data Quality, and Standards

  • Actively participate in data governance activities, including metric standardization, business glossary development, data cataloging, reporting inventory maintenance, data lineage documentation, stewardship discussions, and validation of approved data definitions.
  • Establish and maintain clear metric definitions, business rules, calculation logic, source system notes, data lineage, validation evidence, and report documentation to support consistent interpretation across departments and reporting domains.
  • Identify data discrepancies, investigate root causes, communicate limitations, recommend corrections or process improvements, and verify that changes are implemented appropriately.
  • Promote responsible data use by applying organizational policies, HIPAA requirements, foundation data stewardship expectations, confidentiality standards, approved access controls, and role-based reporting requirements throughout the analytics life cycle.
  • Facilitate consensus among stakeholders when definitions, data sources, business rules, or reporting expectations differ across departments.

Training, Consultation, and Data Literacy

  • Develop and maintain training materials, quick reference guides, report documentation, office hours, and user support resources that improve Power BI adoption, reporting literacy, and consistent interpretation of dashboards across the hospital.
  • Design and deliver education sessions, demonstrations, and consultative support for leaders, clinicians, administrative teams, foundation staff, analysts, fellows, interns, and departmental report developers.
  • Coach colleagues on dashboard navigation, appropriate use of measures, interpretation of trends and variation, limitations of available data, and responsible use of self-service reporting tools.
  • Mentor analysts and project contributors on report development practices, data validation methods, documentation expectations, visualization design, and analytics problem-solving.
  • Serve as a consultative partner for departments seeking to modernize reports, clarify metrics, improve reporting workflows, or increase local data literacy.

Strategic Partnership and Organizational Support

  • Partner with executive, clinical, operational, administrative, and foundation leaders to identify strategic reporting opportunities and translate organizational priorities into reliable analytics solutions.
  • Support multidisciplinary committees, project teams, regulatory readiness efforts, operational improvement initiatives, foundation reporting priorities, and enterprise analytics projects through timely and actionable analysis.
  • Evaluate report adoption, usability, stakeholder understanding, and ongoing business value, and use feedback to improve reporting products, training, and support approaches.
  • Provide clear written and verbal explanations of findings, assumptions, limitations, risks, and recommendations to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare analytics, business intelligence, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, data governance, federal and state requirements, accreditation standards, and emerging reporting practices relevant to the organization.
