This opportunity is working directly with a successful global OEM looking to expand market share in the critical facilities industry. They help data centers reduce energy and operating costs by providing mechanical solutions that modernize their infrastructure. By ensuring high-reliability mission-critical facilities for some of the world’s largest Hyperscale, Colocation, and Enterprise customers, this company offers a career-growth-minded opportunity with exciting projects, cutting-edge technology, competitive salaries, and benefits.

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive strategic business development initiatives within the mission-critical industry. This role will focus on building relationships with key decision-makers, increasing specification influence, and expanding market penetration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong professional network within Data Centers, specializing in industrial-level Mechanical / Cooling Solutions, with expertise in consultative sales, engineering solutions, and long-cycle sales processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute an annual business development plan focused on expanding market share in the critical facilities industry
  • Drive direct sales efforts to Data Center End Users, Colocation Providers, Hyperscale Companies, and Enterprise Data Centers, promoting modernized mechanical solutions and energy efficiency upgrades
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through consultative sales strategies, targeting key stakeholders such as Data Center Executives, Engineering Managers, and Engineering Firms
  • Work closely with engineering firms, general contractors, and design-build firms to secure product specifications and ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Manage full project lifecycle sales, from initial opportunity tracking through contract negotiation, execution, billing, and collections
  • Conduct site surveys, develop scopes of work, and prepare proposals that address customer pain points and technical challenges
  • Lead customer presentations and sales meetings, both in-person and via Teams, ensuring value-driven discussions with decision-makers
  • Maintain and update the company’s CRM platform, tracking sales activities and pipeline opportunities for accurate forecasting
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and market intelligence to adjust strategies and maximize sales impact
  • Represent the company at critical facilities and data center industry events, including DCD, 7x24 Exchange, Datacenter World / AFCOM, Bisnow / DICE, ASHRAE, Uptime, and iMasons
  • Partner with the internal marketing and product teams to develop targeted sales strategies and marketing campaigns
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients, ensuring continued engagement and growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or construction management a plus
  • 5-10+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Account Management within the Data Center Industry
  • Focusing on Commercial HVAC Cooling / Mechanical Systems and Solutions
  • Established network within the Hyperscale, Colocation, and Enterprise Data Center sectors, with strong industry relationships a MUST
  • Have an Established network of: Resellers, Engineering Firms, Manufacturer’s Reps, Construction Firms, and Design-Build Firms to help foster leads for future Data Center projects
  • Experience selling infrastructure solutions, energy efficiency products, cooling towers, chillers, or heat exchangers
  • Strong knowledge of project lifecycle sales (FPLC), from prospecting and specification development to contract negotiation and execution
  • Ability to navigate complex sales cycles ranging from 6 to 18 months, ensuring long-term relationship-building and account growth
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and facilities executives to influence purchasing decisions
  • Engineering skills in writing and developing design specifications a huge plus, but at a minimum, candidates should be able to review and analyze one-line drawings
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Active member of professional organizations such as 7x24 Exchange, ASHRAE, DCD, Uptime Institute, Bisnow, AFCOM, and iMasons
