Responsibilities
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Hadoop ecosystem tools
Develop, optimize, and maintain Spark (PySpark) jobs for large-scale data processing
Work extensively with HDFS, Hive, YARN, and other on-prem Hadoop components
Perform data modeling, schema design, and transformation for analytics workloads
Troubleshoot and tune data jobs for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define data requirements and timelines
Implement logging, monitoring, validation, and alerting mechanisms for production pipelines
Participate in code reviews and follow version control and engineering best practices
Maintain documentation including workflows, data lineage, tables, and operational runbooks
Required Qualifications
6 8 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or related roles

Minimum 5 years of strong Python development experience (modularization, packaging, testing, best practices)
Hands-on experience in on-prem Hadoop environments including HDFS, Hive/HCatalog, and Spark/PySpark
Strong SQL proficiency working with large structured and unstructured datasets
Experience building scalable end-to-end ETL/ELT solutions
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow or Oozie preferred)
Comfortable working in Linux environments and writing shell scripts
Strong debugging, distributed systems troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills
Desired Skills
Experience with data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations)

Exposure to metadata catalog or lineage tools (e.g., Amundsen, DataHub, Apache Atlas)
Understanding of BI/reporting support workflows
Familiarity with Git-based CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, etc.)
Experience modernizing or migrating legacy Hadoop environments
