Pay rate is competitive based on experience Hours can be flexible if needed, currently 5am-5pm or 5pm-5am Description :

The Controls Engineer provides controls / electrical engineering support to the assigned UAP and assists maintenance in supporting the plant through trouble shooting & problem-solving methodologies to eliminate down time and decrease quality defects to the customer. The main missions of the role are to :

• Write, create, and modify programs in AB Studio 5000 and RS500 to meet the plant objectives.
• Provide documentation of changes and improvements to clearly communicate to all stakeholders within the company and create solutions for benchmarking
• Write, create, and modify HMI programs within Schneider and AB environment to improve process and communication to machine operators
• Read, Understand, and Create Electrical Drawings for Controls related projects and to address inefficiencies in the current process
• Provide support to the maintenance department in equipment trouble shooting to reduce / eliminate downtime using systematic approach
• Train production and maintenance personnel in the proper operation and maintenance of controls applicable to safe and proper machine operation
• Participate in problem solving teams to eliminate or reduce the PFMEA ratings as relates to position and / or department
• Provide support during the QRCI (Quick Response, Continuous Improvement) process to complete corrective actions and prepare analysis of potential process control changes to address root cause of Quality Issues
• Follow procedures and corrective action assignments as required to eliminate or reduce PPM’s.
• Work effectively with data and utilize Data Collection Tools within Allen Bradley as well as IOT Systems with a thorough understanding of PDE3 communication protocol
• Evaluates, troubleshoots, develops, designs and implements manufacturing process controls for all assigned programs; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observation from operators.
• Conducts research on product and process deficiencies and recommends modifications in products, process methods, or quality standards where warranted.
• Create projects and provide justifications for major changes / purchases by analyzing control changes and the potential ROI
• Integrate devices such as Vision / Scanner Systems, Motion / Servo Devices, Marking Systems and Remote IO / Peripherals through, but not limited to, Ethernet IO, ProfiNET and Serial Communication Protocols
• Stay informed of quality issues and opportunities as relates to position and / or department; participates in Hoshin and Continuous Improvement events.
• Complete all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
• Promote and ensure the respect of the code of ethics and code of management.
• Maintains product and company reputation by complying with all government regulations, IATF16949 and / or ISO 14001 Internal Audits and APQP standards. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have / be :

• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technical discipline.
• At least 5 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing, including one position in Manufacturing Engineering
• At least 3 years in a PLC programming / troubleshooting capacity
• Allen-Bradley software / programming experience in Studio 5000 is mandatory
• Programming in Siemens / Beckhoff is a plus
• Robot Programming with Fanuc and Motoman is a plus
• Must be very knowledgeable in Process and Manufacturing methods. Physical Requirements
• Exposed to heat in the summer and cold in the winter from within a welding manufacturing environment
• Job involves lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and exerts up to 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires pushing, pulling, reaching standing walking and bending.
• Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate actions
