Administrative Assistant 2
Under supervision of the program director, the Administrative Assistant will help manage and coordinate the different activities of the UCR/City of Hope Cancer Research and Education (UCR/CoH-CARE) Partnership program that is funded by a grant from the NIH National Cancer Institute (NCI). This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position. The full salary range for the Administrative Assistant 2 is $25.38 - $35.97 per hour. However, the expected pay for this position is $25.38 - $30.13 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma and some college or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required. Bachelor's degree (preferentially in business administration or related field). Preferred.
Experience Requirements
Experience working for an institution of higher education. Preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience. Preferred.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to work as a team player and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Skill in independently researching questions and making appropriate contacts when problem solving. Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to compose business correspondence, edit and use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Skill in communicating effectively and professionally using tact and diplomacy.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of managing large datasets using spreadsheets and other web tools (e.g., REDCap). Management skills to plan, coordinate, and direct numerous complex activities. Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to grant management and procedural practices, general accounting practices, travel and entertainment reimbursement. Knowledge (or interest in learning) Web page development and maintenance.

Department Custom Scope
Under supervision of the program director, the administrative assistant will help manage and coordinate the different activities of the UCR/City of Hope Cancer Research and Education (UCR/CoH-CARE) Partnership program that is funded by a grant from the NIH National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Key Responsibilities
General administrative and office work, including keeping calendars, procurement (ordering and reimbursements), advertisement of RFAs, and coordination/communication with UCR and City of Hope Faculty and staff (e.g., for program coordination and UCR/CoH joint grant NIH applications). Scheduling and attending regular (weekly) administration/directors meetings and faculty meetings and keeping minutes/records. Gathering/tracking and organizing program data (e.g., tables of participants and outcomes/accomplishments) from Planning & Evaluation core and project faculty; and assisting in annual NIH program progress reports (RPPRs). Program Web page development (with Web page developer specialist) and maintenance/updating (including initial Drupal training). Organizing/coordinating research symposia, retreats, and committee advisory meetings, including annual external visits by NIH and external advisory board. Tracking of program budget and expenses for all cores/projects with departmental grant analysts.
