Job Title: Privacy Engineer

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Contract

Pay Range:90- 100/hr

We are seeking a skilled Privacy Engineer to join our security and compliance team. This role will focus on embedding privacy principles into systems, applications, and data processes to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations and internal policies. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, security, legal, and product teams to implement privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain privacy-enhancing technologies and controls across systems and applications.

• Partner with engineering and product teams to integrate privacy-by-design principles into the development lifecycle.

• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products and system changes.

• Review and assess data flows, data collection practices, and storage architectures to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.

• Support compliance with global privacy frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other data protection laws.

• Implement and maintain data minimization, anonymization, and pseudonymization techniques.

• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and security teams to address privacy risks and mitigation strategies.

• Develop automation and technical solutions for data subject rights requests (DSARs), consent management, and data retention.

• Participate in security and privacy architecture reviews for new platforms and systems.

• Support audits and regulatory inquiries related to data protection and privacy practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in privacy engineering, security engineering, or data protection roles.

• Strong understanding of privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and global data protection frameworks.

• Experience with data mapping, data classification, and privacy impact assessments.

• Familiarity with secure software development practices and cloud environments.

• Knowledge of encryption, anonymization, tokenization, and privacy-enhancing technologies.

• Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with GRC platforms or privacy management tools.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or CIPT.

• Experience supporting privacy programs in highly regulated environments.
