Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee will fill the technical position of Embedded Software Engineer on the Software Defined Radio Systems (SDRS) program at the Navy Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic in Charleston, SC. This individual will work alongside industry experts in the fields of SDR, software development, and tactical communications. The expected role will emphasize all aspects of embedded software development including documentation, design, implementation, integration, verification, review, tool chain automation, etc.

• Performs development of applications, tools, drivers, etc. for embedded Linux ARM64 systems
• Designs communications between distributed software components
• Performs Integration and debugging with other system software/firmware
• Designs and development of tests and test tools
• Automates software with scripts
• Performs system demonstrations
• 0-15% CONUS travel required

Requirements

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Solid, demonstrable experience in embedded Linux software development
• Experience with embedded development on ARM-based architectures
• Experience with embedded OS development such as Yocto, Buildroot, or PetaLinux
• Fluent in C/C++, standard libraries, etc., and able to learn new languages
• Experienced with debuggers and learning/searching preexisting codebases for problems and solutions
• Comfortable working in Linux operating environments (CentOS)
• Familiar with GCC or Clang toolchain
• Highly motivated and able to work independently and in a team
• Effective complex problem solving skills
• Effective communication and analysis skills
• Formal education or equivalent experience in a systems or software engineering discipline

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms or software
• Experience in Go programming language
• Experienced with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• Hands-on experience working with CMOSS, SOSA, MORA or similar
• Familiar with creating OOT modules for GNU Radio or RedHawk SDR
• Familiar with containerization—Kubernetes, Docker, Vagrant, Ansible
• Familiar with Software Communications Architecture (SCA) and Object Request Brokers (ORBs)

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL
