Job description
Job Description – AV BUILD TECHNICIAN (AV, Network and Related Residential Automation).

Room to grow, rooted in the Bay Area.

Chamberlux Automata is proud to team with the best and brightest architects & builders of the wider SF Bay Area to design, build and support the luxuriously bespoke home environments of our up-market client base. We are a hands on and personable bunch, always underpinning innovative technology with tried and true best practices, and we maintain a level of professionalism that sets us apart. When seeking a new addition to our team, the person is of as much importance as the skill set. A team that works this well together takes time and patience to build but is completely worth all the effort, therefore we look to augment our relatively small staff with like minded individuals who bring both a complimentary skill set and are motivated to support growth within the company.

At this time, we’re seeking an AV Build Technician who will readily slide into the role with confidence. Your affinity for electronics and technology must coincide with a career built on tradecraft and conscientiousness. From day one, we’d expect you to present yourself confidently to other trades, as well as homeowners, in the daily course of your work. This would require experience in AV that goes back at least 5 to 8 years, because your contributions will be integral to the success of all projects. You’d have full support of the team and will be provided with the resources and tool stack needed to perform your work effectively. We will continue to iterate operational expectations and procedures to bolster the team efficiency and your input would be equally considered and absorbed in the process.

Required Skills:
  • Residential Construction Experience a MUST.
  • Versed in all typical AV device installations, including flat panel displays, projectors & screens, motorized mounts and housings, recessed and invisible speakers, panelized controls for lighting and shades (enough to coordinate with jobsite electricians), motorized shades, security cameras/NVR and everything else low voltage.
  • Unquestionable communication and coordination skills, internal and client-facing, fluid with email, online calendars, and apps (Google Workspace, Asana, REVU, etc.).
  • Time management and prioritization capabilities.
  • Interpreting, referencing and marking up professional drawing packages from both external and internal development. (REVU Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Visio, etc.).
  • Rack Build.
  • Control system administration and basic system admin skills to work with remote programmers (for Crestron, Josh, Savant, RTI, or others)
  • Audio and Video commissioning to industry standards and best practices.
  • Awareness of building codes as related to AV & Low Voltage Electrical.
  • Following jobsite safety protocols.

Responsibilities:
  • Absorbing the design intent and an understanding of the client’s expectations for project completion. Then working backwards from that to achieve it in a timely manner.
  • Daily communication with the project team to evaluate progress and plan accordingly.
  • Maintaining a familiarity with the scope of work and project documentation that guides all coordination with other team members and trades.
  • Implementation of the systems specified. Onsite work, cabling, installation, testing, configuration.
  • Fielding the onsite coordination requirements that come up on a daily basis and documenting the dispute/resolution in the project documentation.
  • Prepping the materials needed for the work ahead.
  • Maintaining project documentation accuracy (Asana ongoing task updates) on a daily basis.
  • Completing the physical scope of the project, including commissioning, punch list items.
  • Juggling small service and support requests between the larger project schedules.
  • Attending and contributing to regular production meetings.

Qualifications:
  • Documented experience in ALL mandatory skills above, and conversational familiarity at a minimum with all desired skills.
  • Industry certification from AVIXA, CEDIA, and/or 8 years industry experience with 5 years in a similar role.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage your own time and workload effectively.
  • Maintains professionalism both internally and externally.
  • Clean driver’s license.

Schedule:
  • Condensed work week
    • Monday - Thursday, 40 hour work week. Overtime, when needed/authorized. While 40 hours aren’t guaranteed, we don't sit on the bench often, if ever.

Compensation:
  • Benefits become available following a 60 day qualifying/intro period.

      • New Year’s Day.
      • Memorial Day.
      • Independence Day.
      • Labor Day.
      • Thanksgiving.
      • Christmas/Winter Solstice.
      • Your Birthday.
    • Paid Vacation and Sick Leave.
    • Bonus opportunities.
  • Starting Hourly Range - $35 to $50 (depending on experience).
