This position reports to: Operations Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage a team of designers/engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective, and timely engineering solutions to customers. Each day, you will formulate plans and allocate resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. You will also showcase your expertise by initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Automation, Marine and Ports Division in either Houston, TX, or Vancouver, CA.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Providing direction to the engineering team with a focus on functional safety, cybersecurity, on time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.
  • Ensuring the projects/ operations value chain portfolio follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that the projects are closed as per the contract specifications.
  • Initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering / design capability and efficiency, utilize agile methodologies to reduce engineering lead time, and enhance functional safety and cybersecurity.
  • Driving team performance to ensure that the deliverables are met on time and as per the set contract specifications and safety, cyber security, and quality requirements.
  • Act as the technical lead for selected projects.

Qualifications for the Role

  • You enjoy working with a combination of technical and commercial aspects of the project delivery.
  • You are passionate about enabling the engineering team to develop, perform and deliver on multiple priorities in parallel.
  • You hold a MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or Naval Engineering and have at least 8 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • You are at ease communicating in English. Spanish knowledge is beneficial.
  • You hold a valid authorization to work in USA and/or Canada.
