Job Title: Junior Electrical / Controls Engineer
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of control panels and electrical systems.
- Support PLC programming using platforms such as Allen‑Bradley and Siemens.
- Participate in the testing and validation of control systems.
- Contribute to the commissioning of equipment and systems.
- Identify and resolve basic electrical or logic issues under supervision.
- Ensure compliance with safety and code requirements.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Understanding of AC/DC circuits, control voltage, and industrial power distribution.
- Exposure to PLC programming and familiarity with HMI/SCADA concepts.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for sensors, VFDs, and control panels.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical for schematics and panel drawings.
- Basic use of PLC software such as Studio 5000 and TIA Portal.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Internship, co‑op, or 0–3 years of relevant industrial or manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, or industrial safety standards (exposure level).
- Willingness to be on the plant floor and support commissioning activities.
- Strong desire to learn and grow into a mid‑level controls or electrical engineering role.
Work Environment
The position is based in a manufacturing or industrial facility, with time split between a desk and the plant floor. Collaboration with engineering, maintenance, and production teams is essential. Standard business hours are maintained, with occasional overtime required during startups or commissioning. The work environment emphasizes safety, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilkesboro, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
