POSITION PROFILE :

The Mechanical Engineer will design and build prototype and production-level mechanical systems for opto-electronic components and embedded systems. Attollo specializes in the development of versatile opto-electronic sensors and mechanical systems that will draw upon a strong background in mechanical design for manufacturing and thermo-mechanical analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Design precision opto-mechanical assemblies for use in rugged environments
  • Design mechanical tooling and fixturing for prototype development with an eye towards manufacturing automation
  • Conduct thermal and mechanical design analysis to ensure compliance with stated system specifications
  • Design components and select materials for use in high vacuum and cryogenic assemblies
  • Assemble prototype opto-mechanical assemblies for concept development and first article design validation
  • Generate component and assembly-level drawings and work within Attollo's established configuration management system
  • Duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of industry relevant experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks for 3D CAD, drawing generation, and finite element analysis
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience interacting with vendors and machine shops for procuring custom components
  • Experience with design for manufacture (DFM)
  • Experience with vacuum systems and material compatibility
  • Experience with verification and validation (V&V) of designed components
  • Hands-on experience integrating components into systems and assemblies
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with defined or ambiguous requirements to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Organized and methodical with attention to detail
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required.

    • IDEALLY, YOU'LL ALSO HAVE :

  • Experience working in an ITAR environment
  • Experience with design and assembly of integrated dewar cooler assemblies (IDCAs)
  • Experience with micron-scale tolerance design
  • Ability to apply multiple engineering disciplines to support design, development, implementation and operational activities
  • Practical experience with 3D printing technologies
  • Ability to assist in definition, trade-off and design activity
  • Ability to review, evaluate and analyze designs
  • Ability to prepare, review and evaluate documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures

    • TRAVEL : Little travel is expected for this position, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required

    SALARY RANGE : $80,000-$130,000 annual salary, plus participation in individual performance bonus plan.
