The Designer will be responsible for preparing, developing, reviewing, and modifying engineering drawings, plant design change packages, Bills of Materials (BOMs), construction packages, and other technical documentation associated with plant modifications, equipment installations, repairs, and facility projects. The level of responsibility and complexity of assignments will be based on the candidate's education, technical training, and relevant design experience. Candidates may range from entry-level designers providing CADD and design support to senior-level professionals responsible for complex designs, technical recommendations, and design leadership.

  • Review and modify design systems and associated configuration documents to ensure conformance with applicable design parameters and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate design configuration documentation and incorporate approved changes into applicable drawings and records.
  • Identify material and equipment requirements and develop or provide input for Bills of Materials and project cost estimates.
  • Coordinate design activities with engineering, operations, maintenance, construction, project management, vendors, and other technical disciplines.
  • Provide technical and design support during construction, installation, testing, implementation, and closeout of plant modifications.
  • Assist with resolving field conditions and design-related issues identified during project execution.
  • For more experienced candidates, provide design guidance, technical recommendations, design reviews, and leadership for complex plant modifications and projects.
  • Develop or support manpower estimates, project schedules, construction packages, cost estimates, and project status reports as required.
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable plant procedures, design controls, configuration management requirements, and site standards.

Qualifications:

    • Entry Level: Technical/CADD education with approximately 0–2 years of applicable design experience.
    • Intermediate Level: Approximately 2–4 years of applicable design experience.
    • Experienced Level: Approximately 4–6 years of applicable design experience.
    • Senior Level: 6+ years of applicable design experience with demonstrated ability to support complex designs and provide technical/design leadership.
  • Experience developing or modifying engineering drawings and technical design documentation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with CADD and computer-based design applications applicable to the assigned discipline.
  • Strong PC skills and proficiency working within a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with engineering, construction, maintenance, operations, and project teams.
  • Ability to organize technical information and manage multiple design assignments and priorities.
  • Some work locations may require a valid driver's license.

Preferred Experience:
  • Previous design experience within a nuclear power plant, commercial power generation facility, utility, or other highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Experience developing Plant Design Change Packages, Design Change Notices, Bills of Materials, and construction packages.
  • Experience conducting field or plant walk-downs and incorporating existing field conditions into design documentation.
  • Experience with plant modifications, equipment installations, repairs, and facility upgrades.
  • Familiarity with design configuration control and engineering document management processes.
  • Experience coordinating designs across multiple engineering and technical disciplines.

Level Determination:Candidates may be considered at various Designer levels based on their combination of education, CADD/technical training, relevant design experience, technical capabilities, and demonstrated level of responsibility. More experienced candidates will be expected to independently manage increasingly complex design assignments and may provide technical guidance and design leadership to engineers, designers, and project personnel.
