Site Merchandising Specialist

The Site Merchandising Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing customer-facing product content across the MonkeySports family of eCommerce websites. This role ensures that products are accurately represented, on-brand, and presented from the customer's perspective to drive engagement and conversions. Responsibilities include new product setup, product attribution, content updates, quality assurance, and coordination with the photography team for product imagery. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create and publish product pages within the eCommerce platform, ensuring accurate attribution, categorization, and taxonomy.
  • Ensure all product details-including descriptions, images, pricing, and specifications-are accurate, consistent, and on-brand.
  • Coordinate with the in-house photography studio to request and manage product images; update and maintain image standards across the site.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance of page content, including seasonal updates, product availability changes, and removal of discontinued product.
  • Perform QA reviews on new and updated product content to ensure accuracy and consistency prior to launch.
  • Collaborate with merchandising specialists, marketing, and development teams to improve site functionality, taxonomy, and navigation.
  • Utilize basic HTML to format product descriptions and tables for readability and consistency.
  • Use Adobe Photoshop for basic image editing, resizing, and optimization.
  • Monitor product data for accuracy and support regular reporting on merchandising effectiveness.
  • Appropriately prioritize workload to ensure timely posting of new products and content updates.
  • Perform additional content management and data entry tasks as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitor merchandising strategies.
  • Provide feedback on merchandising operations, processes, and customer experience improvements.
  • Support SEO initiatives by applying keyword best practices to product content and metadata.
  • Experience working with project management platforms (Monday, Trello, Teams) for task tracking and workflow management.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in eCommerce merchandising, content management, or related role.
  • Familiarity with sporting goods and customer shopping behaviors preferred.
  • Basic HTML and Adobe Photoshop skills (layers, resizing, pen tool, color correction).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for spelling and grammar.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO is a plus.

Cognitive and Physical Demands

  • Much of the work involves sitting at a desk, using a computer, and working within product information management platforms, reviewing reports, and creating customer-facing marketing content.
  • Attending meetings, participating in presentations, and engaging in face-to-face interactions with colleagues and external partners may require extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Balancing the demands of digital merchandising responsibilities - including launches of products, updating content, tight deadlines, and regulatory compliance - may occasionally lead to periods of stress, requiring effective time and stress management techniques to maintain well-being and productivity.

Working Conditions

  • Office Environment: You'll primarily work in an office setting, collaborating with colleagues and conducting meetings.
  • Occasional Travel: Depending on business needs, you may travel occasionally to other company locations for company meetings or to attend conferences. Travel requirements are typically infrequent and planned.
