Career Services Coordinator Job Developer

The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (SBWIB, Inc.) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and organized Career Services Coordinator Job Developer to support workforce development and employment initiatives for youth and young adults participating in workforce programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping participants achieve educational and employment success while serving as a professional representative of the organization. This individual should possess strong communication, outreach, networking, and relationship-building skills; be dependable, highly organized, and detail-oriented; and be capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while working independently and collaboratively with internal teams, employers, schools, and community partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct employer outreach and develop relationships with employers, hiring managers, industry representatives, training providers, job placement agencies, community partners, and other organizations relevant to the participant population being served to identify employment, internship, training, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Market workforce development programs and employment support services to employers, community partners, and other stakeholders through presentations, networking, outreach activities, recruitment events, job fairs, and other business engagement efforts.
  • Conduct outreach activities, including cold calling, networking, presentations, recruitment events, job fairs, employer visits, and research activities to identify job leads, address employer workforce needs, and promote participant hiring opportunities.
  • Research labor market information, employment trends, industry needs, and available job opportunities through various resources to support participant placement and career development activities.
  • Develop, coordinate, and promote employment, internship, work experience, job shadowing, classroom speaker, company tour, and other work-based learning opportunities for participants.
  • Match participant skills, qualifications, experience, interests, and career goals with available employment, training, and work-based learning opportunities; coordinate participant referrals, interviews, placements, and related follow-up activities.
  • Provide career exploration, career assessments, job readiness preparation, job search assistance, application assistance, rsum development, interview preparation, employment retention support, and other employment-related services to participants.
  • Facilitate workshops, orientations, presentations, job search activities, career information sessions, employment-related training activities, and other participant development activities.
  • Monitor participant engagement, progress, workplace performance, employment retention, and program participation; provide guidance and support in resolving workplace concerns, employment barriers, or other issues affecting participant success.
  • Maintain regular communication with employers, participants, training providers, community partners, and other stakeholders to support successful placements, work-based learning activities, retention efforts, and program outcomes.
  • Conduct participant assessments, eligibility screenings, outreach activities, off-site assessments, and service delivery activities at employer sites, partner locations, and other community-based settings as required to support assigned programs and participant service needs.
  • Track participant activities, placements, outcomes, case notes, and related program information within required case management and tracking systems.
  • Prepare and maintain participant files, reports, documentation, forms, and related records in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with program, funding, reporting, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Assist in the development of outreach materials, recruitment materials, presentations, flyers, and other promotional or program-related materials.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, trainings, conferences, professional development activities, and other program-related functions as assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of labor market trends, workforce development initiatives, employment resources, industry needs, and available training opportunities.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, Workforce Development, or a related field; and
  • At least two (2) years of experience in workforce development, business development, employer engagement, job development, recruitment, marketing, community outreach, employment services, career counseling, social services, or a related field.
  • Ability to successfully pass background and reference clearances.
  • Reliable transportation, a valid California Driver's License, and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, work effectively under pressure, and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to comply with company safety protocols, workplace requirements, and company policies and procedures.
  • Or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position (education may be substituted by experience on a year-for-year basis)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with employers, participants, community partners, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records, case notes, documentation, and reports.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment in all interactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to learn and utilize program-specific software and case management systems.
  • Experience using virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Role Expectations:

  • This role requires a consistent and engaged in-person presence to support employer outreach; collaboration with employers, training providers, community partners, and other organizations relevant to assigned programs; participant engagement; worksite coordination and site visits; workshops, presentations, and outreach activities; and secure document collection and file maintenance in accordance with operational, compliance, funding, and audit-ready file requirements.

Employees may also be required to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment involving fluctuating workloads, competing demands, changing priorities, and time-sensitive assignments that require adaptability, responsiveness, and the ability to maintain service quality, accuracy, compliance, and productivity.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a standard 40-hour workweek. The starting hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
