The Controller serves as a key financial leader within IME, overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of the company's financial reporting processes. This role partners closely with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Accounting Department.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Develop, analyze, and interpret accounting and financial information to evaluate organizational performance, profitability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and financial accuracy.
  • Prepare reports that communicate the company's financial position, operating results, and future outlook to executive leadership.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Monitor and report on performance against budget and forecast expectations.
  • Analyze revenue, labor, project costs, financial commitments, and operating trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Develop financial models and operational analyses to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations related to resource allocation, budgeting strategies, and financial performance improvements.
  • Assist with the development, tracking, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).

Construction Financial Oversight

  • Maintain a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing, and project financial performance.
  • Partner with operational leaders to evaluate project profitability and financial outcomes.
  • Review contracts, leases, financial commitments, and obligations to assess business and financial impact.
  • Support the analysis of labor productivity, project costs, and operational efficiencies.

Leadership & Strategic Partnership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to support strategic growth initiatives and business objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations that support informed business decisions.
  • Support the execution and communication of the organization's overall financial strategy.
  • Establish financial objectives, policies, and procedures that align with organizational goals.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Assist with tax planning, reporting requirements, and financial risk management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy within accounting operations.
  • Evaluate systems, workflows, and reporting tools to support the continued growth of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to collect, assemble, analyze, and present financial data and reports.

  • Successful experience leading accounting and financial operations within a complex organization.
  • Proven ability to develop and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
  • Demonstrated success supporting executive leadership through financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience managing accounting teams and developing high-performing employees.
  • Strong understanding of the financial lifecycle of construction projects and job-cost accounting.
  • Proven ability to establish and improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and tracking key performance metrics.
  • Successful collaboration with operational leaders to improve financial performance and business outcomes.
  • Experience managing confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus.
  • Previous leadership experience managing accounting teams required.
  • Experience in construction or electrical contracting is a plus.

Working Conditions

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

IME provides an industry-leading comprehensive benefits package. Full-time employees are eligible to choose from a variety of healthcare coverage options, which become effective the first of the month after hire. In addition, employees are offered a substantial amount of PTO and are immediately eligible to make contributions to a generously matched and fully vested 401k.

Salary Range: $127,500 - $172,500

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $127,500.00/Yr. - USD $172,500.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
