Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt

Compensation: $90k-$140k

Company Overview: Our client is a well-established manufacturer of precision-machined metal components and assemblies supporting a diverse industrial customer base across energy, infrastructure, transportation, industrial processing, and heavy equipment markets. Their operation combines CNC machining, manual machining, fabrication support, balancing services, and repair/remanufacturing capabilities to produce critical components used in demanding industrial environments. The company maintains a strong reputation for quality, responsiveness, and technical expertise, delivering both production and custom-engineered solutions to customers whose equipment reliability is essential to day-to-day operations.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Manager will provide hands-on leadership for all shop floor operations, overseeing production personnel, equipment utilization, quality performance, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. This role requires a leader who understands machining operations from both a technical and operational perspective. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing production schedules, improving manufacturing efficiency, supporting machinists and supervisors, troubleshooting machining processes, and ensuring customer commitments are met without compromising quality. The Manufacturing Manager will work closely with Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Executive Leadership to drive operational performance while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily manufacturing operations across CNC machining, manual machining, cutting, balancing, and related production departments.
  • Ensure manufactured components are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality standards and customer delivery requirements.
  • Manage labor utilization, machine capacity, workflow, and production schedules to maximize throughput and on-time performance.
  • Monitor key production metrics and implement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities focused on waste reduction, process optimization, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement cost-saving opportunities involving labor, tooling, equipment utilization, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain standardized manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Partner with Quality personnel to investigate production issues, nonconformances, customer concerns, and corrective actions.
  • Lead, mentor, train, and develop supervisors, machinists, maintenance personnel, and other manufacturing staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development through coaching, training, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing organization.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, and employee retention efforts.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for CNC machine tools and supporting production equipment to maximize uptime and reliability.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities and resources to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Assist with capital equipment evaluations, process improvements, equipment upgrades, and future manufacturing investments.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and support routine safety meetings, training programs, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment consistent with 5S and Lean principles.
  • Manage procurement activities related to tooling, MRO supplies, cutting tools, fixtures, and manufacturing consumables.
  • Work closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery, cost effectiveness, and uninterrupted production support.
  • Support departmental budgeting, labor efficiency reporting, and operational performance tracking.
  • Participate in management meetings and provide input regarding manufacturing performance, staffing requirements, capital expenditures, and strategic initiatives.

Technical Experience

  • Familiarity with FANUC-based CNC equipment.
  • Experience with conversational programming platforms commonly used in machining environments.
  • Ability to review, troubleshoot, and support G-code machining programs.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience highly preferred, including Mastercam or similar software.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance principles for CNC machine tools and supporting equipment.

Preferred

  • Associate's degree or higher in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience managing medium-to-large machine shop operations.
