Laborer

This laborer role supports both plant operations and community events by safely handling, sorting, and labeling various materials and products. You will work primarily at the branch in the paint department and warehouse, with optional opportunities to support weekend events. The position involves material handling, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, assisting with inventory, and interacting with customers at off-site events.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the plant to help separate materials and support daily operations in the paint department and warehouse.
  • Dump paint into a 100-gallon tank, handling water-based, latex, oil, cement, and rubber-based paints according to established procedures.
  • Load and unload products from the back of semi-trucks using a pallet jack or forklift.
  • Place labels on products once they have been processed or disposed of properly, ensuring accurate identification and tracking.
  • Assist with inventory by documenting materials received and processed, and help load and unload trailers as needed.
  • Operate fork trucks and other mobile equipment to move containers to and from storage and treatment areas and to load or unload trailers safely.
  • Participate in optional weekend events (typically Friday through Sunday) as part of a team of 310 people, depending on the event size.
  • Help sort and place materials into the correct bins based on type and disposal requirements during events.
  • Load products into the back of semi-trucks at event locations for transport back to the facility.
  • Interact with customers at events by answering basic questions, educating them about proper material handling, and thanking them for their participation and support.
  • Separate and label specific materials based on what they are and where they need to go, ensuring compliance with handling and disposal guidelines.
  • Use an iPad to take pictures and document inventory received from customers, maintaining accurate digital records.
  • Work safely around loud alarms, warning sounds, and moving vehicles such as trucks, cars, and commercial trucks, following all safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with material handling and general labor tasks in a warehouse, plant, or similar environment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other mobile equipment, or willingness to learn and follow proper operating procedures.
  • Capability to use pallet jacks for loading and unloading products from semi-trucks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, both out in the field at events and back at the branch.
  • Comfort working as part of a team and interacting directly with customers during weekend events.
