POSITION SUMMARY

As a teacher apprentice of a New Education System (NES) School, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of your students and contribute to shaping a better future. This role is focused on student growth and achievement, your primary objective is to facilitate a dynamic and engaging learning environment that maximizes student potential. You will employ innovative teaching methods, personalized instruction, and data-driven assessments to promote academic progress and foster a love of learning. Your dedication to continuous improvement, strong instructional skills, and ability to connect with diverse learners will contribute to significant student growth and achievement.
As a Teacher Apprentice in a Future 2 School, you will serve in a residency model designed as a strategic pipeline for Future 2 Teachers. This position operates under a structured gradual release framework toward full instructional responsibility.
Focused on student growth and achievement, the Teacher Apprentice supports and progressively assumes responsibility for planning, instruction, assessment, and student coaching within the Future 2 experience-based and AI-enabled instructional model. The Apprentice ensures instructional continuity and serves as the lead instructor when assigned during teacher absences, eliminating the need for external substitutes.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

1. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students within the Future 2 dyad and mixed-grade instructional model.
2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, maintaining high expectations aligned to Future 2 Habits of Success.
3. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences and incorporate adaptive and AI-supported learning tools where appropriate.
4. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
5. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior consistent with Future 2 program expectations.
6. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and experiential learning activities and communicate these objectives to the students.
7. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
8. Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education, Future 2 design principles, and instructional goals and objectives.
9. Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis using formative, summative, and performance-based measures and provide progress reports as required.
10. Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
11. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
12. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
13. Participate in structured coaching cycles and professional feedback processes aligned to the gradual release residency model.
14. Serve as lead instructor when assigned during the absence of the Future 2 Teacher to ensure continuity of instruction.

15. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
16. Make provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes when required.
17. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s), learning coaches, and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluate their job performance when assigned instructional responsibility.
18. Maintain and improve professional competence, including progress toward certification and mastery of the Future 2 instructional model.
19. Participate in district staff development.
20. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
21. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
22. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
23. Maintain open communication with parents.
24. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

N/A

Education

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Enrollment in an approved teacher certification program required

Experience

Experience working with students in instructional, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching settings preferred.

Other Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard.
Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, and/or be mobile.
Ability to travel throughout the district and city by means of private or public transportation. If driving personal (or private) vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
