DESE Research, Inc is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator to join our team in Huntsville, AL.
In this role the candidate will
- Architect and Deploy: Drive the secure deployment and lifecycle management of Linux workstations, enterprise servers, and HPC clusters.
- Control Filesystems: Efficiently administer local and remote filesystems, ensuring data integrity and high-speed access across the network.
- Automate Everything: Eliminate manual toil by developing sophisticated automation scripts using Shell and Python.
- Hardened Security: Implement and manage robust security layers, including advanced firewall configurations and fine-tuned SELinux policies.
- Orchestrate at Scale: Drive system consistency and rapid deployment using Ansible for configuration management and automation.
- Containerization: Modernize workflows by deploying and managing containerized environments using Docker, Podman, and Apptainer.
- HPC Optimization: Maintain and push the performance limits of HPC clusters utilizing industry-leading tools like Bright, Slurm, and xCAT.
- Network Engineering: Configure and optimize Linux networking services to ensure seamless, high-bandwidth connectivity.
- Technical Documentation: Author and maintain high-fidelity documentation for system configurations, operational playbooks, and strategic plans.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Physics, or STEM.
Clearance: Active DoD Top Secret with eligibility for SCI and a CI Scope Polygraph within 180 days.
Program Eligibility: Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility.
DoD 8570 Compliance: Must possess an active CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP, or equivalent baseline certification.
U.S. Citizenship: Required for clearance eligibility.
Linux Mastery: Extensive professional experience in Linux system administration (RHEL preferred).
Technical Intuition: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve intricate hardware and software bottlenecks under pressure.
Analytical Precision: Strong critical thinking skills with a methodical approach to complex system challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI Polygraph.
Advanced Certification: RHCE, RHCSA, or similar.
DevOps Skills: Advanced proficiency in Ansible, Python, and Bash for infrastructure-as-code environments.
Modern Stack: Experience with container technologies (Docker/Podman) and scientific computing tools (Apptainer).
Supercomputing: Hands-on experience tuning HPC clusters with Bright, Slurm, and/or xCAT.
Network & Virtualization: Strong background in Linux networking and virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix).
Hybrid Environments: Experience managing cross-platform integration with Windows systems.
