Medical Assistant (MA)

Implements and notes response to an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing assigned components of the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Delegates to unlicensed personnel in accordance with the nurse practice act. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees. Will report risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. Will comply with appropriate and approved standards. Provides clerical support, coordinates unit needs and other duties as directed by supervisor. Maintains professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources, as needed. Assists to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees. Applies appropriate policies and procedures for the following: registration of patients by obtaining demographic and financial information with explanation and collection of payment obligations; order entry and processing; provision of clerical support for the team; schedule patient appointments and coordinate as need with various department; assists the licensed nursing staff with implementation of appropriate plan of care and performs duties as delegated; cross-train to other job duties as deemed appropriate by supervisor; accepts additional duties as assigned and implements and notes response to an age appropriate plan of care.

Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements (if applicable):
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion from an accredited institution with a CMA certification
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer experience recommended
- Healthcare experience desirable
- Bilingual ability desirable
- Previous experience with medical terminology preferred
- Must possess current BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment
- Minimum of one year experience in hospital setting, prefer 2 years
