Tool Room Technician
The Tool Room Technician ensures the machine shop's cutting and workholding tools are expertly managed, ensuring productive daily operations. Your primary responsibility will be to purchase, setup, preset, and manage inventory of necessary cutting tools, cutting tool assemblies, and custom and standard workholding. You will work with machinists, engineering, and supply chain to uphold standards to ensure efficient operations and rapid deployment of fusion generators. You will report directly to the Machine Shop Manager at our Everett location.
You will:
- Build cutting tool and workholding packages based on tool lists
- Source and purchase necessary cutting tools, cutting tool holders and accessories, and standardized workholding
- Organize high quantities of different cutting tools and workholding for traceability and rapid deployment to machining assets
- Administer vendor managed inventory (VMI)
- Preset cutting tool assemblies using a Zoller tool setter, using RFID for preset data transfer
- Digitally build and manage cutting tool assemblies in the tool management system (TMS)
Required skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years' experience in machine shop, tooling management environment
- 3+ years experience operating and programming CNC tool presetters (preferably Zoller Haimer also applicable)
- Experience using software-based tool management systems (preferably Zoller Wintool, TDM, and CribMaster also applicable)
- Experience managing RFID tracked cutting tool assemblies
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications for mechanical and electromechanical parts
- Experience with industry machining standards, regulations, and techniques
