About Our Center

For over 30 years, Sylvania Children’s Center has served Toledo families through a high-quality early childhood program grounded in professionalism, research-based practice, and strong relationships.

As a NAEYC Accredited and Step Up To Quality Gold Rated program, we uphold the highest standards in early care and education. Our classrooms combine responsive caregiving, intentional teaching, and developmentally appropriate practice to support each child’s growth.

We believe when educators are supported as professionals, children and families thrive.

Why Educators Choose SCC

Educators choose Sylvania Children’s Center because we provide:

• A NAEYC-accredited professional teaching environment
• Supportive leadership and clear classroom systems
• A collaborative team culture that values educator voice
• A program rooted in developmentally appropriate, relationship-based care
• Opportunities for professional growth and advancement

Teaching here is treated as a professional role with meaningful impact, not simply a childcare job.

Role Overview

The Infant Teacher provides responsive, nurturing care that supports the earliest stages of development.

In this role, you will create a calm and predictable classroom environment where infants feel safe, supported, and engaged. Through intentional interactions, sensory experiences, and consistent routines, you will help children build the foundational skills that support lifelong learning.

You will also partner closely with families, maintaining warm and professional communication while supporting each child’s unique developmental journey.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, responsive relationships with infants through consistent caregiving
• Support daily routines including feeding, diapering, rest, and transitions
• Create a calm classroom environment that promotes exploration and emotional security
• Implement sensory-rich experiences that support early development
• Observe and document children’s developmental progress
• Communicate regularly with families using approved systems such as Procare and Lillio
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom environment that meets licensing standards
• Collaborate with coworkers and leadership to support a positive team culture
• Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development

Qualifications

• CDA, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
• Experience working with infants or in a licensed early childhood program preferred
• Understanding of infant development and responsive caregiving practices
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Professionalism and commitment to ongoing growth
• Must meet Ohio childcare licensing requirements

What We Offer

• Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications
• Paid weekly planning time
• Professional development and paid trainings
• Supportive leadership and coaching
• Collaborative team environment
• Opportunities for advancement
• A respectful workplace culture that values educator well-being

🌻 If you believe high-quality infant care lays the foundation for lifelong learning, we invite you to apply.

Join a team where educators are trusted, supported, and empowered to make a meaningful difference for children and families.
