Build a career that matches all your initiative with an impressive dose of innovation. From cutting-edge resources and a collaborative environment to the freedom to make an impact and more, you'll find the ingredients you need at LPL Financial to shape your success while helping clients pursue their financial goals.

Job Overview

The Learning and Development Consultant facilitates structured learning experiences that build job-critical skills and support consistent performance outcomes for business professionals. This role applies adult learning principles to instructor-led, virtual, and applied learning environments, partnering with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and business leaders to ensure learning objectives translate into on-the-job capability. The Learning and Development Consultant is expected to deliver content with purpose and discipline, using engagement strategically to reinforce understanding, practice skills, and support knowledge retention.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver new hire onboarding programs and ongoing learning initiatives that support role readiness and skill progression.
  • Apply adult learning principles to support understanding, practice, and skill transfer in an operational environment.
  • Lead structured skill practice, role-play, and application activities aligned to job expectations.
  • Provide targeted feedback and reinforcement based on observed learner performance and established criteria.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers to share learner insights and contribute to continuous improvement of learning delivery.
  • Consult and partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to ensure curriculum reflects current processes, systems, and expectations.
  • Review learner performance indicators (assessments, observations, post-training outcomes) and adjust facilitation approaches to support learning effectiveness.
  • Maintain readiness on content, systems, and business updates to ensure learning experiences remain accurate and relevant.
  • Foster a professional, inclusive learning environment that supports participation, accountability, and growth.
  • Applies AI-enabled tools and technologies, as appropriate, to enhance facilitation effectiveness, support learner engagement, and enable continuous improvement of learning delivery.
  • Adapts to evolving business needs by taking on additional responsibilities as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

We're looking for strong collaborators who deliver exceptional client experiences and thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented environments. Our ideal candidates pursue greatness, act with integrity, and are driven to help our clients succeed. We value those who embrace creativity, continuous improvement, and contribute to a culture where we win together and create and share joy in our work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Training, Communication, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience facilitating structured learning experiences for adult learners, including instructor-led or virtual delivery.
  • Experience delivering learning as a primary responsibility, not solely as an occasional or supplemental activity.

Core Competencies

  • Learning Facilitation: Ability to deliver structured learning experiences aligned to learning objectives and performance outcomes.
  • Adult Learning Application: Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and how to apply them to skill development and knowledge retention.
  • Coaching & Feedback: Ability to observe learner performance, facilitate practice, and provide constructive feedback aligned to defined standards.
  • Facilitation Discipline: Ability to follow curriculum intent, manage time effectively, and balance instruction, discussion, and application.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts facilitation strategies based on learner readiness, role expectations, and real-time observation.
  • Communication & Active Listening: Communicates concepts clearly, checks for understanding, and encourages purposeful learner interaction.
  • Collaboration & Partnership: Works effectively with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders to support learning objectives.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable facilitating in virtual environments (Webex, MS Teams) and navigating Learning Management Systems.

Preferences

  • 3+ years of experience in learning facilitation, training delivery, or learning and development.
  • Experience supporting call center, service, or operational environments.
  • Exposure to financial services, regulatory, or compliance based training.
  • Training or facilitation certifications (ATD, CPTM, or similar) are a plus.
  • FINRA Licensing (SIE, Series 7, or similar) are a plus.
