Procurement Specialist
Procure materials, products, services, and/or equipment for an assigned department(s). Oversee ordering, receipt, and review of commodities from second and third-tier suppliers. Ensure compliance with company policy and any applicable laws and regulations.
Identifies and qualify suppliers and negotiate terms and contracts. Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of materials, products, services, and/or equipment. Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for discrepancies. Resolve defects and delivery problems with suppliers to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner. Maintains and tracks records of purchased items, costs, deliveries, and inventories. Coordinates payment processing for all commodities purchased from suppliers. Negotiates rebates with suppliers to ensure timely processing of claims. Develops and implements strategies for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, quality improvements, and process efficiencies. Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Participates in development of statements of work for equipment, products, and materials. Manage multiple without having direct supervisory/management responsibilities. Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting. Some travel may be required. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in business administration or other related field and three (3) to seven (7) years of purchasing experience or an equivalent combination of education and purchasing experience. Must have experience with and understanding business concepts, including knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, resource allocation, coordination of resources, and other techniques for maximizing effectiveness and efficiencies. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing and inventory specific programs. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate, and implement appropriate solutions.
