Job description

Location : Cincinnati, OH - onsite

Employment Type : This role is expected to start as a 6+ month contract-to-hire opportunity. The client may consider direct full-time employment (FTE) for the right candidate.

Seniority : The client is open to hiring mid-level or a sr. level engineer.

KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for an Electrical Design Engineer - Material Handling / Conveyor Systems (AutoCAD Electrical)

The Senior Electrical Engineer will design, develop, and support electrical systems for specialized equipment used in manufacturing, distribution, and automation environments.

This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical system design, particularly in material handling and conveyor-based systems, combined with the ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The engineer will participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, including concept development, electrical design, installation support, and system commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Design electrical systems and components using AutoCAD Electrical (ACAD E) or similar CAD tools for : -

Control panels

Field wiring

Power distribution systems

Develop electrical schematics, technical drawings, and documentation that meet industry standards and customer requirements.

Perform research and analysis to develop solutions for complex electrical and automation challenges.

Lead electrical design efforts across projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and according to specification.

Coordinate with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, engineering team members, vendors, and customers to ensure seamless project execution.

Support equipment installation and commissioning, including occasional on-site troubleshooting and technical support.

Prepare technical documentation, compliance reviews, and engineering reports.

Ensure adherence to applicable quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements including NFPA and NEC.

Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Preferred Industry Experience

Experience in industries such as :

Manufacturing automation

Distribution center automation

Material handling systems

Warehouse automation

E-commerce fulfillment systems

Exposure to :

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs)

Mobile robotics

Warehouse optimization systems

Real-time supply chain solutions

Experience working with Rockwell-based controls environments is beneficial.

Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 2-5 years of professional electrical engineering experience in industrial automation, equipment design, or similar heavy-industry applications. (5+ years of experience required for the Sr. position)

Strong AutoCAD Electrical (ACAD E) experience is required for the Sr level position. Other CAD software acceptable for the mid-level role.

Experience designing electrical systems for material handling conveyor systems is required.

Ability to interpret and create electrical drawings, symbols, and technical documentation.

Experience coordinating projects and managing engineering deliverables.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to work onsite in the Blue Ash / Cincinnati area.

Must be able to work OT as needed for projects.

Must have reliable transportation and authorization to work in the United States.

Must be able and willing to travel up to 15% as required to support project work, installations, and related business needs. Travel expenses are reimbursable.

Work Environment & Schedule

40 hours per week, standard schedule with occasional overtime as needed to support project timelines and installations.

Office-based role with close collaboration across engineering and project teams.

Home every night (no extensive travel required).

On-call support may be required during critical installation phases (rotational basis).

Travel is typically less than 15%, with advance notice provided when possible.

Regularly / Occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

Sr. Engineers : Compensation is dependent on experience, typically $45-55 / hr W2, with a target conversion salary of $100-110K plus a 10% bonus.

Mid-level Engineers : Compensation is dependent on experience, typically $35-39 / hr W2, with a target conversion salary of $65-80K.
