Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Purchasing, or a related field preferred.
  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) and relevant inventory planning coursework are highly desirable.
  • Strong computer proficiency with ERP systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials planning, inventory control, purchasing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success managing inventory performance, service levels, inventory turns, and working capital.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory planning concepts, including EOQ, reorder points, safety stock, lead times, forecasting, and demand variability.
  • Experience making data-driven purchasing decisions and managing high-value inventory investments.
  • Ability to collaborate with suppliers, production teams, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to prevent shortages and support on-time delivery.
  • Experience with ERP systems, forecasting tools, AI-assisted planning platforms, and supplier performance management preferred.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to work primarily in an office environment with extended periods of sitting, computer use, and telephone communication.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and movement throughout manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, and receiving areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or office supplies up to 15 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

Job Duties

  • Own inventory performance for assigned materials, including inventory availability, service levels, inventory turns, and inventory investment.
  • Analyze demand forecasts, supplier lead times, and inventory risks to make strategic buy and do-not-buy decisions.
  • Maintain target on-time delivery (OTD) performance while balancing working capital and inventory investment objectives.
  • Monitor and respond to planning exceptions, forecast changes, supplier constraints, and material shortages.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, production, engineering, and operations teams to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing and customer fulfillment.
  • Utilize ERP systems and AI-enabled planning tools to optimize inventory levels and improve forecasting accuracy.
  • Reduce excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining material availability.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier records in compliance with company procedures and quality standards.
