Are you passionate about mentoring teams and delivering compliant, high‑quality mechanical designs in a regulated environment?

Join our Team!

Baker Hughes is recognized as a global energy technology company serving the energy and industrial sectors across more than 120 countries. Within our Valves division, we design and deliver advanced flow‑control solutions including control valves, safety relief valves, and regulators that meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory requirements for commercial and nuclear applications.

Partnering with the best

As a Nuclear Lead Mechanical Engineer, you are providing technical leadership for the design and development of flow‑control equipment for nuclear and commercial applications. You are leading engineering projects from concept through validation, ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. You are guiding engineering teams, supporting manufacturing and sales, and serving as a technical authority for complex valve solutions.

As a Nuclear Lead Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for:

  • Leading the design and development of control valves, safety relief valves, regulators, and related products for nuclear and commercial applications.

  • Executing and supervising design, analysis, and evaluation activities using sound mechanical engineering principles.

  • Creating and reviewing 3D CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks and related tools.

  • Reviewing customer specifications and translating requirements into manufacturing and order execution instructions.

  • Leading and managing project deliverables, schedules, and technical milestones.

  • Reporting project progress to management and identifying design, cost, or schedule risks.

  • Ensuring adherence to design review processes, quality standards, and design‑for‑manufacturability best practices.

  • Preparing and approving bills of materials, drawings, test specifications, and processing instructions.

  • Supporting manufacturing through material substitutions and non‑conformance disposition.

  • Collaborating with global engineering teams to support order execution and resolve complex technical issues.

  • Supporting Sales by providing technical leadership for complex valve applications and customer proposals.

  • Analyzing field complaints to differentiate between design deficiencies and application issues and implementing corrective actions.

  • Maintaining in‑depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, EN, ISA, Norsok).

  • Supporting planning, manufacturing, and sourcing organizations during product fulfillment.

  • Mentoring and guiding engineers while influencing technical decisions across functions.

  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, development, or application engineering.

  • Have experience designing control valves or safety valves for nuclear or severe‑service applications.

  • Have strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.

  • Have strong knowledge of ASME BPVC, ASME Section I & III, ASME B16.34, B16.5, and related standards.

  • Have strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

  • Have experience leading projects and influencing cross‑functional teams.

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to customers and leadership.

  • Have working knowledge of SAP ERP and numerical tools such as MathCAD or MATLAB.
