Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, a Meter Reader performs routine work in the reading of meters for electrical and / or water consumption, and records volumes used by residential and commercial consumers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Walks or drives over established routes and takes readings of meter dials
- Inspects meters for defects, damage and unauthorized connections
- Indicates irregularities on forms for necessary action
- Checks reading to locate abnormal consumption and records reason for fluctuations
- Assigns control numbers on all meter cards used in routing consumers
- Prepares daily report as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education & Experience
High school diploma, or equivalent, including courses in the electrical trade.
