SBA Business Development Officer
The SBA Business Development Officer will be responsible for sourcing a government guaranteed loan pipeline, appropriate structuring of lending opportunities, loan pricing in accordance with the bank's guidelines and fee/premium strategy, providing initial credit analysis for lending activities, and SBA/USDA form processing. Primary responsibilities include active business development and origination of SBA real estate and non-real estate loan products in the business marketplace along with USDA Business and Industry Program loan products.
Key responsibilities include serving as the outward facing representative of the bank regarding SBA and USDA Financing, developing customer relationships, analyzing prospective client's financial statements, collecting required financial and other documentation, proactively initiating business contacts, developing and maintaining a government guaranteed loan pipeline, counseling customers on SBA/USDA business financing needs/process, analyzing customer financial status, credit, and property evaluations against SBA/USDA program requirements, identifying opportunities for Commercial Lending, Treasury Management, and/or Retail, working with the Portfolio Manager for the collection of any outstanding financial, insurance, and documentation exceptions/items, maintaining confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field. Required: 8+ years of relevant experience, including SBA lending experience. Must have recent experience originating SBA loans with an SBA preferred lender. Must be bondable. Technically savvy with a curiosity and comfort with various computer systems and ever changing online and mobile banking options. Demonstrates ability to understand and use bank loan policies and procedures to support positive customer interactions. Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance, including fair lending laws. Demonstrates knowledge of credit analysis functions and related requirements and procedures. Must be a creative and solution-oriented problem solver/decision maker who is able to solve complex problems while adhering to prudent credit management practices, credit policies, regulations, and bank goals. Adopts an anticipatory rather than reactionary approach to managing their pipeline. Is comfortable in agreeing to disagree in some matters, open enough to listen and adapt as appropriate and strong enough to stick to core beliefs when he/she believes it appropriate. High degree of personal and professional integrity consistent, trustworthy, honest, and fair in dealing with bank staff and customers. Proficient knowledge of the SBA SOP and loan programs. Ability to understand and use the bank's policies and procedures in accordance with the SBA SOP to drive results in a responsible fashion. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills. Ability to work independently with strong initiative and results orientation. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Preferred: Credit experience.
