Job Description:
  • The Network Technician will provide on-site technical support for network and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • This role involves installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of LAN, voice, fiber, wireless, and industrial communication systems.
  • The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with operational, safety, security, and change management standards while supporting business continuity.
Responsibilities:
  • Respond to ServiceNow incident tickets and resolve assigned issues.
  • Perform cable patching, installation, and recovery activities.
  • Install power leads and troubleshoot power cable connections.
  • Install, remove, and swap network and telecommunications equipment.
  • Locate and identify network circuits and tag demarcation locations.
  • Provide escort services for third-party vendors and subcontractors as required.
  • Adhere to risk management processes including walkthroughs, work permits, change management, safety training, and incident reporting.
  • Comply with audit, information protection, security, and physical access management standards.
  • Identify switch port locations and perform network diagnostics such as ping tests and DNS lookups.
  • Perform visual checks for hardware failure indicators, console error messages, power status, and hardware labeling during troubleshooting.
  • Assist in identifying and reporting environmental issues in communication rooms such as cooling failures or water leaks.
  • Perform IMAC activities for end-user LAN and voice devices.
  • Adhere to company change management procedures and practices.
  • Monitor and respond to emergency conditions affecting operations where services can be safely provided.
  • Adhere to Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans.
  • Provide smart hands support for telecommunications infrastructure including fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Support WiFi, BLE, microwave, radio, VSAT, and cellular-based systems including 4G LTE and 5G technologies.
  • Support low-power WAN systems and other industrial IoT and operational technology systems.
  • Deploy and maintain prewired solar panel and battery power systems at ground level.
  • Perform IP telephony installations and support specialty telecom systems such as CCTV, intercom, and alarm systems.
  • Work collaboratively with design and engineering teams, IT service desk, IT operations center, telecommunications providers, and managed service providers.
  • Support IT and telecom requirements for business units, capital projects, and merger or acquisition initiatives as guided by the network team.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and post-incident reviews when requested.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and telecommunications systems.
  • Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Strong understanding of LAN, voice, and IP telephony systems.
  • Knowledge of change management and incident management processes.
  • Ability to work safely in compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
