Job description

Corporate Senior Accountant

At Vestis, we provide uniforms, workplace supplies, and professional cleaning that help businesses simplify their workday and keep their teams safe, confident, and focused on what matters most. More than a provider, we are a partner in productivity, trusted to keep you running.

Join us and build a career supporting the people who make it all work.

The Corporate Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis of company results. This position independently manages accounting activities for assigned areas, prepares and reviews complex journal entries and reconciliations, and provides insightful variance analysis versus plan and prior year. The role requires attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate financial results for assigned areas to business partners and leadership.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

  • Lead accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned overhead departments and locations.
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to accruals, actual expenses, reserves, and other adjustments, ensuring clear documentation of data sources and assumptions.
  • Ensure accounting activities and financial reporting comply with U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and established corporate accounting policies.
  • Analyze expense trends, prepare accruals, and reconcile reserves for complex overhead areas.
  • Perform balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Intangibles, Cash), explain period-over-period variances, and calculate relevant metrics. Demonstrate understanding of subsystem integrations with the general ledger.
  • Develop and deliver ad hoc reports to support management and business analysis requests. Utilize Oracle and Hyperion to extract, analyze, and interpret general ledger data, and clearly explain variances using spreadsheets and written commentary.
  • Troubleshoot financial system issues and respond to user inquiries regarding system functionality. Participate in testing system enhancements, upgrades, and changes to core financial statements. Support data interfaces into the general ledger, identify errors, and coordinate corrections with IT partners.
  • Assist with forecasting, planning, and projecting expenses for assigned overhead locations or company-wide expense categories.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned that are reasonable within the scope of this role.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Qualifications:

  • 47 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financials preferred.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills, including experience with pivot tables and macros.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, flexible, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop well-supported solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with effective time management skills to meet established reporting deadlines.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements/Physical Requirements:

  • No special physical requirements for this position. Position is situated in an office environment.
