Our client, a technology services company in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a VoIP Engineer to join their team!
This is a hybrid/full-time/direct hire position
Salary for this role based on experience: $95k-$115k

The Opportunity:
As our VoIP Engineer, you will be the technical architect and primary lead for our proprietary, branded communication solution. This isn't just about managing phones; it's about deploying and scaling a multi-tenant communication ecosystem that powers our clients' businesses. You will own the full lifecycle—from server-side orchestration and high-availability management to the delivery of advanced collaboration features.

What You'll Do (Your Impact):

• System Orchestration: Deploy and manage our branded VoIP solution, ensuring high availability and peak performance across all hosted and on-premise clusters.
• Solution Architecture: Partner with Sales Engineering and Project Management staff to design custom communication workflows, including advanced call routing, omnichannel contact centers, and multi-tenant setups.
• Tier 3 Technical Lead: Drive deep-dive investigations into SIP signaling, media stream quality, and network-level bottlenecks to ensure crystal-clear voice and video.
• System Integrity: Manage the underlying Linux environment, overseeing security patches, package management, and database replication to maintain 99.9% uptime.
• Continuous Improvement: Use your scripting skills to automate tenant provisioning and system monitoring, making our delivery more efficient every day.
• PSA Mastery: Fully utilize ConnectWise PSA to effectively manage service requests, documentation, and operational efficiency.

The Tech Stack You'll Master:

• Core Infrastructure: Multi-tenant IP-PBX architecture and server virtualization.
• Collaboration Tools: Desktop and Mobile applications (WebRTC, SIP softphones).
• OS/Infrastructure: Linux (RHEL/Debian) administration, Security (Firewalls/ACLs), and Bash/PHP/Perl scripting.
• Networking: Deep knowledge of SIP, RTP, TCP/IP, and NAT traversal. Experience with HPE/Aruba/Cisco/Unifi switching and routing.
• Data: MySQL/MariaDB management and replication (InnoDB).
• Legacy Integration: Hands-on experience with Asterisk (FastAGI), Kamailio, and Apache.

What You Bring:

• Experience: 3-5+ years in a dedicated VoIP engineering or communication system administration role.
• Communication: Ability to represent our brand with a "customer-first" attitude, translating complex technical hurdles into clear solutions for internal teams and clients.
• The "Hacker" Mindset: Strong troubleshooting skills in Linux environments and the ability to analyze packet captures (PCAPs) to find the "needle in the haystack."
• Precision: High attention to detail—especially regarding system documentation and project deadlines.

Work Environment & Schedule:

• On-Call Rotation: You will participate in a fair, rotating on-call schedule to handle urgent Tier 3 platform incidents. We use modern alerting to ensure you are only paged for true "system down" emergencies.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000+ (Based on experience and technical expertise).
