Job Title: Process Scientist
Job Description
This role is responsible for executing and scaling chemical processes from laboratory development through full-scale plant production. The position requires strong hands-on expertise in synthesis, analytical techniques, and process scale-up, with a focus on practical problem-solving and knowledge transfer across teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory and pilot-scale chemical reactions, supporting process development and scale-up to manufacturing volumes (kilogram scale and beyond).
- Execute and optimize synthetic processes, including reactions and downstream purification techniques, along with analytical characterization using techniques such as NMR, HPLC, mass spectrometry (MS), infrared spectroscopy (IR), and general spectroanalysis methods.
- Support scale-up activities from lab-scale (40–50L) to production-scale reactors (100–2500L), ensuring consistency, safety, and efficiency of processes.
- Apply strong scientific judgment to make logical, data-driven decisions during process development and troubleshooting.
- Work hands-on at both the bench and production floor level, directly supporting manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and effectively transfer process knowledge, methods, and best practices to colleagues and operations teams.
Essential Skills
- Strong expertise in NMR, HPLC, mass spectrometry, and infrared spectroscopy.
- PhD or advanced academic in Chemistry or a related field.
- Strong foundation in synthetic chemistry and API development.
- Demonstrated experience handling chemical materials at laboratory scale (up to multi-kilogram quantities) with exposure to process scale-up environments.
- Strong understanding of reaction chemistry, process optimization, and analytical techniques.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of St Francis, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
Bonus programs: short-term incentive up to 5% (cash once per year) and a profit share of up to 5.75% (deposited into the employee's 401k). 4 week PTO and paid holiday.
