System Protection & Control engineering organization and is seeking
System Protection Engineers, Protection & Control (P&C) Engineers, and Principal Engineers to support grid reliability, compliance, and system modernization initiatives.
This organization owns and operates critical electric infrastructure serving hundreds of thousands of customers across Texas. Engineers in this group play a direct role in maintaining system reliability, public safety, and long?term electric grid performance.

Position Summary
The
System Protection / P&C Engineer performs complex engineering work requiring the application of protection, control, and power system analysis principles to ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electric transmission and distribution systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the engineer will:

Perform short?circuit, overcurrent, and distance coordination studies using ASPEN OneLiner or similar tools
-
Develop and modify protective relay settings for new and existing facilities
-
Analyze system disturbances and recommend corrective actions in compliance with NERC PRC?004
-
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on assigned NERC and/or CIP standards
-
Review relay one?lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection design packages
-
Ensure compliance with applicable company standards and regulatory requirements
-
Provide technical direction to field personnel, contractors, and internal teams
-
Train and mentor less?experienced engineers
-
Participate in peer reviews and technical evaluations
-
Communicate engineering recommendations to diverse stakeholders
-
Support the development and improvement of protection and control standards
-
Perform all work safely, accurately, and in a timely manner
Core Competencies

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem?solving skills
-
Experience with ASPEN OneLiner, CAPE, or similar protection software preferred
-
Knowledge of power systems across generation, transmission, and distribution
-
Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ASME, etc.)

Ability to translate electrical theory into utility?scale applications
-
Comfortable working in and around high?voltage facilities (up to 345kV)
-
Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills
Education Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET?accredited institution
-
Electrical Engineering or Power Systems emphasis preferred
Experience Requirements (Based on Level)
-
Engineer I: 1–3 years of related experience preferred
-
Engineer II: 2+ years of experience; FE or Master’s degree preferred
-
Engineer III: 4+ years of progressive engineering experience
-
Engineer IV: 5–7 years of advanced engineering experience
-
Principal Engineer:
-
10+ years of engineering experience
-
Professional Engineer (PE) license required

Demonstrated technical leadership
