Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Fabricator (CNC Operator) to join the OCL Team in St. Louis, MO. A Fabricator uses a variety of hand and power tools and machines to cut, bend or punch pieces of material to match engineering drawings in an accurate and timely manner.

What Will You Do?

  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure and dial calipers.
  • Familiar with machinery in the fabrication department that may include:Punch press, Shears (manual/hydraulic), Break form, Roll form, Band Saws (horizontal/vertical/circular), Right Angle Grinder, Drills (hand/stationary), Air toolsAbility to grind and blend welds on countered surfaces.Set-up computerized machines to perform machine functionsInput control instruction into machineEvaluate program blueprints to outline machine operations and dimensionsInstall machine tools and gadgets using manual working tools
  • Able to accurately layout a part from an engineering drawing
  • Demonstrates leadership in safety related issues. Responsible for thorough knowledge of appropriate safety practices; must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety policies and practices.
  • Must be able to differentiate between material types (Aluminum, Steel, and Brass).
  • Fabricators must be able to load and unload materials within a warehouse utilizing a hand truck
  • Complete production paperwork to document material consumed, wasted and produced as well as time needed to complete.
  • Must be able to rotate task as needed.
  • Must be accountable for own quality and efficiency of work.

Qualifications

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent, Vocational Certificate preferred

Preferred Skills:

  • 1-2+ years work and/or current educational experience on manual or CNC milling machine
  • Basic knowledge of machining (including set-up)
  • Blue print reading skills
  • Experience with and ability to read precision instruments
  • High caliber of quality control; strong observation and quality inspection skills
  • Entry-level computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills; strong grammatical use of the English language
  • High level of self-initiative and dependability
  • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required
  • Must be flexible and willing to pitch in as needed
  • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to work within a team environment
