Tutor901 is Literacy Mid-South's flagship high-dosage tutoring initiative, designed to accelerate student achievement and strengthen literacy outcomes for students throughout the region.
Literacy Mid-South seeks a strategic, collaborative, and results-oriented leader to serve as Tutor901 Program Director. This role is ideal for an experienced education or nonprofit professional who is passionate about improving student outcomes, building strong partnerships, developing high-performing teams, and using data to drive continuous improvement.
The Program Director provides leadership for Tutor901 by overseeing program performance, instructional quality, staff management, school partnerships, and grant compliance. Working closely with school leaders, community partners, and internal teams, this individual will ensure Tutor901 delivers high-quality literacy interventions while advancing Literacy Mid-South's mission and long-term impact across the community.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Program Director serves as the primary leader of Tutor901 and is responsible for ensuring the program operates effectively, meets performance goals, and remains a trusted partner to schools and stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all Tutor901 operations and initiatives.
- Develop and implement annual program goals aligned with organizational priorities.
- Monitor program performance and student outcomes to ensure effectiveness and impact.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts that strengthen program quality and efficiency.
- Support the long-term sustainability and success of Tutor901.
- Supervise and support Tutor Program Managers.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Address staffing and performance concerns in a timely and constructive manner.
- Ensure implementation of evidence-based literacy intervention practices.
- Monitor instructional quality and program fidelity across partner schools.
- Analyze student achievement and attendance data to guide decision-making and program improvements.
- Lead quality assurance efforts, including observations, coaching, and performance monitoring.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for partner schools and educational stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with principals, district leaders, and community partners.
- Represent Literacy Mid-South in meetings, presentations, and community events.
- Collaborate with school partners to support successful program implementation.
- Monitor key performance indicators and program outcomes.
- Ensure accurate collection, management, and reporting of program data.
- Prepare reports for organizational leadership, funders, school partners, and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and private grant requirements.
- Partner with colleagues across departments to support organization-wide goals and initiatives.
- Contribute to planning efforts that strengthen program effectiveness and organizational impact.
- Ensure Tutor901 remains aligned with Literacy Mid-South's mission and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Five or more years of leadership experience in education, literacy programming, youth development, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing teams.
- Experience building and maintaining partnerships with schools, community organizations, or other stakeholders.
- Experience using data to evaluate performance and drive decision-making.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Teaching license and/or classroom experience.
- Experience with literacy intervention programs.
- School leadership experience.
- Experience managing federally funded programs and grant compliance requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000
