The primary focus for this Program Manager position is the Quality and Safety Program for the Division of Cancer Medicine, assisting the Divisional Quality Officer with implementation of cross-departmental process improvements, and assisting the Department Quality Officers with quality projects. The Program Manager will monitor the institutional incident reporting system for events occurring throughout the Division, and create dashboards associated with identified Quality & Safety metrics.

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience working with a quality program in a healthcare setting. A certification in healthcare quality is highly desirable. Knowledge of Vizient is preferred. The candidate should also have the ability to prepare presentations and effectively present information in quality meetings. While this position is primarily remote, it requires the flexibility to work onsite as needed to support business operations.

WHAT WE OFFER

KEY FUNCTIONS

Data Management:
• Coordinate with Division leadership quality improvement programs including development of Quality & Safety metrics for outcomes and productivity.
• Establish quality assurance mechanisms that promote data accuracy.
• Oversee data collection process for Division.
• Measure, monitor, trend and report Quality & Safety metrics to identify recurrent or high-risk events potentially posing quality concerns.
• Coordinate internal dashboards and benchmarking related to incident reporting systems data collection. Disseminate results and communicate recommendations based on benchmarking initiatives to division leadership.
• Align divisional policies with current regulatory and accreditation requirements, and national guidelines.
• Facilitate participation in the regulatory reporting systems as appropriate and as needed by individual department and service lines.
• Assist in the development of quality and compliance measures.
• Demonstrate understanding of the meaningful use of data to support clinical practice and quality improvement.
• Coordinate the identification of key Quality & Safety metrics, measurement and data analyses in collaboration with internal analysts and quality officers.

Project Management
• Lead or participate in multidisciplinary team projects using project management skills and methodology.
• Coordinate and define project scope, goals, deliverables and completion time with internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Division leadership and Department Quality Officers to identify, monitor and report on department-specific deliverables within specified time frames
• Collaborate with Division leadership to develop, review, implement and maintain institutional policies, procedures and/or standard operating procedures as required
• Coordinate education activities with key stakeholders to support quality and safety.

Leadership:
• Serve as a liaison between the Division leadership and Departmental Quality Officers.
• Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding and grasp of the complex range of patient care and service provided by division faculty and programs, including the specific risks associated with treatments in each department and service line, including but not limited to stem cell transplant, solid and liquid malignancies, opioid and chemotherapy safety, blood products, and inpatient/outpatient environments.
• Plan and organize monthly meetings.
• Assist in setting priorities to ensure the best possible delivery of service and high customer/patient satisfaction.
• Serve as a resource for clinical quality and patient safety reporting requirements and regulatory functions.
• Identify innovative solutions for practice or workflow changes to improve operations. Proactively evaluate processes; recommend action plan for change. Participate in the development and implementation of new procedures and the review and revision of existing procedures.
• Identify opportunities and take action to build strategic relationships with internal quality administrators and teams.
• Seek opportunities to identify developmental needs of self and take appropriate action. Ensure own career discussions occur with appropriate management.
• Attend and participate in Safety and Quality Daily Briefings and, when appropriate, institutional Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program for hospital-wide quality and safety efforts.
• Coordinate study sessions to assist fellows in preparing for quality certification exams.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's degree in healthcare administration.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Five years related experience to include three years program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.

Preferred: Two or more years of experience working with a quality program in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of Vizient is preferred. Ability to prepare presentations and effectively present information in quality meetings.

CERTIFICATION

Required: None.

Preferred: Certification in healthcare quality such as: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ) - National Association for Healthcare Quality; Certified in Medical Quality (CMQ) - American Board of Medical Quality; or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) - American Society for Quality.
