Position Title: Program Manager Autism Supports/ Program for Exceptional Students

Salary: Teacher Salary Schedule

Work Days: 240

Location: Muscogee County Public Education Center

Reports To: Executive Director of the Program for Exceptional Students

Primary Function: The job of Program for Exceptional Students Autism Supports Program Manager was established for the purpose of coordinating specialized autism programming, overseeing the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies, and ensuring compliance with district and federal special education policies. This includes the monitoring of staffing needs, budget preparation, legal and due process situation management and staff training/assistance. The individual will collaborate with principals, teachers, support personnel, district staff, BCBAs, parents and other community stakeholders to ensure appropriate implementation of Exceptional Student Education programs aimed at providing on-going support and assistance to schools and staff in the areas of district, state and federal compliance, meeting timelines, data collection, staff training, mentoring, and programming needs.

Requirements:

1. Educational Level: Master's degree or higher in Special Education or related area from an accredited educational institution.

2. Certification/License: Certification in Educational Leadership. Georgia certification in Exceptional Student Education/Preferred Adapted Curriculum Certification. Restraint training. Valid driver's license.

3. Experience: Minimum of three years teaching experience in the area of Exceptional Student Education, specific to experience with individuals with moderate to severe autism spectrum disorder and significant interfering problem behaviors. Candidates must have demonstrated experience with implementing skill acquisition programs and implementing function-based behavior support plans. Qualified candidates should be proficient in ABA methodologies and teaching techniques and possess excellent communication, organization and time management skills. Understanding of child development and curriculum and instructional materials used at various grade levels.

4. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Provides Programmatic Oversight- Designs, evaluates, and supports specialized ABA-based and Autism Support Programs across multiple school sites through the provision of a highly structured approach that relies on behavioral principles.
  • Provides Staff Supervision & Training- Trains and supervises special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other district staff on implementation of evidence-based ABA strategies.
  • Facilitates and supports provision of high quality individualized, educational services to students ages 3-22 with autism spectrum disorder and other related disability areas across multiple environments within MCSD classrooms, including the general education and special education classrooms.
  • Develops, oversees and implements programmatic systems to include both skill acquisition and behavior reduction data collection, data graphing, and progress monitoring, as well as provides oversight to teachers and support staff to increase behavior analytic skill acquisition focused on analyzing data and modifying intervention programs as necessary.
  • Maintains consistency and routine oversight of high-quality Behavioral Intervention Plans across the district within Program for Exceptional Students by communicating and providing input to teachers, administrators, and other support staff as appropriate.
  • Adheres to high standards of professional behavior including knowledge of and supervision of using appropriate applied behavior teaching, communication, and reinforcement techniques consistently.
  • Designs and provides consistent supervision and monitoring of effective implementation of inclusionary best practices, and implements a data-driven transition plan developed to support and monitor the placement and transition of students to the most appropriate Least Restrictive Environment.
  • Promotes and provides interdisciplinary collaboration through serving as a liaison between the Muscogee County School District, families, private therapists, and state agencies.
  • Schedules district office coverage for the purpose of making student assignments, parent conferences and attending required meetings.
  • Manages and investigates parent complaints and coordinates corrective actions for the purpose of ensuring effective due process.
  • Monitors timeline and accuracy requirements, staffing, inventory and reporting data for assigned area for the purpose of legal compliance.
  • Attends and participates in mandatory leadership meetings for the purpose of remaining knowledgeable with current regulations, policies, procedures, and District initiatives.
  • Assists assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
  • Monitors/assists with the development and implementation of quality educational programming for all students through Individualized Education Plans, individualized curriculum, and the comprehensive re-evaluation and annual review process for the purpose of ensuring consistent and effective implementation of system-wide instructional and student service programs across the district.
  • Participates in conferences/training/staff development meetings for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Monitors the transportation service needs of the students to include, but not limited to safety, rapid/individual transit, bus monitor and other special services as they relate to the exceptional education population for the purpose of ensuring safety of students.
  • Monitors, supervises and retains staff and student records related to the safe implementation of crisis management procedures for the purpose of providing a safe environment for students and staff.
  • Reviews Individual Educational Plans for the purpose of ensuring appropriate services, supports and supplementary aides are provided according to legal requirements.
  • Provides oversight and supervision of the monitoring and tracking of academic progress for students with disabilities, disaggregated by subgroup within the assigned area. Collaborates with schools and district leadership to communicate data and insights that support improved educational outcomes for students with disabilities.
  • Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
  • Serves on the district's School Improvement Review Committees, GAPSS Teams, Targeted School Improvement Grant Schools, and School Leadership Teams as appropriate and/or as assigned for the purpose of increasing outcomes for students with disabilities.
