Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Capstone Program Manager, the Program Coordinator plays a central operational role in the administration and execution of SIPA’s Capstone Program, a core experiential learning requirement for MIA and MPA students.

The position focuses on the Capstone portfolio and supports project implementation, external partner coordination, event logistics, and program operations. The incumbent works closely with the Senior Assistant Dean and Program Manager to ensure the effective delivery of a high-volume, multi-stakeholder experiential learning program with significant domestic and international engagement.

Responsibilities

Capstone Project Development and Implementation:

  • Research potential partner organizations to help identify targets of opportunity for new project topics for the capstone program.
  • Assist with program development outreach for the recruitment and development of new external partnerships for the program.
  • Working closely with the Capstone Program team, develop and implement Capstone projects, track project agreements and manage course management platforms.
  • Working with the Capstone Program team, develop targeted Capstone communications to the appropriate audiences including for students, faculty advisors, and external partners.
  • Maintain Capstone-specific tracking systems and internal project records.
  • Maintain and update Capstone-specific website content, including the Capstone project directory.

Capstone Project Operations:

  • Responsible for proactive coordination of communications, scheduling, project milestones, and ongoing support to ensure faculty advisors are fully equipped to guide their student teams effectively.
  • Coordinate Capstone classroom scheduling needs in partnership with central scheduling.
  • Conduct cost comparison and budget impact analysis to support responsible allocation of program funds for student Capstone travel logistics for domestic and international .
  • In adherence to an annual budget of approximately $220,000 for Capstone travel, advise students on policies and procedures governing reimbursements and payments.
  • Manage the Capstone-specific email account and address inquiries appropriately.
  • Develop a tracking system for Capstone project agreements in coordination with the Office of the General Counsel.

Capstone Programming

  • Plan event logistics for Capstone events including midterm presentations, final presentations, orientations, and briefings. Duties include developing and distributing Capstone-specific promotional and event materials.
  • Oversee day-of event logistics to ensure seamless execution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent timelines.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, and basic website content management systems.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in higher education administration.
  • Experience supporting experiential learning programs.
  • Experience coordinating international travel logistics and event management.
