Transportation And Logistics Analyst

Position Overview

The Transportation and Logistics Analyst supports the end-to-end supply chain activities of the organization and will report to the Global Transportation Manager. The primary areas of responsibility will include global logistics and inventory analytics. Focus will be on ensuring material is fluidly moving through the supply chain, cost savings activities, increased customer satisfaction, increased inventory availability, and improving global supply chain metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Transportation and Logistics Analyst is responsible for supporting our end-to-end supply chain operations by collaborating with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to perform the following key responsibilities:

  • Analyze transportation and inventory data and suggest ways to decrease spend while improving efficiency
  • Analyze carrier options, manage ongoing relationships, report shipment issues, provide proof of delivery, and provide required export file documentation
  • Assemble presentations to translate data analysis into visual concepts; ensure visuals are both informative and attractive
  • Maintain import/export records for non-licensed shipments per CBP requirements
  • Analyze and Administer Tariff Drawback Program, serving as liaison to Outside Vendor
  • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments to customers and ensure exceptions are identified and corrected
  • Tracking approved Ocean and Air freight spend, as well as cargo values
  • Research freight damages/shortages and perform root cause analysis to suggest ways to prevent incidents in the future, filing claims as necessary
  • Coordinate transportation for special events such as tradeshows, special orders, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to accomplish strategic and tactical goals
  • Become a subject-matter expert for all things transportation and logistics related
  • Work with purchasing/sourcing to implement new programs for inbound logistics to the D.C.
  • Work with operations/customer service to identify transportation issues. Serve as liaison to carriers/providers to address concerns.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field: Finance/Accounting, Supply Chain, Operations. Management, Business Administration, or Industrial Engineering preferred; equivalent work experience will also be strongly considered.
  • Understanding of transportation/logistics/supply chain concepts highly preferred.
  • Experience working with internal/external customers.
  • Experience with big data and/or financial analysis.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications; strong user of Excel, competent user of ERP and TMS systems.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment

  • General office environment, with some exposure to plant environment, with forklift and other general hazards. Some exposure to outdoors, rough terrain, firearms, and lead.
  • Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. The work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
  • The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:
    • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are required when on the manufacturing floor.
  • The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
