Job descriptionPosition Description: Position Summary: The Credit Analyst position provides high level support to Commercial Lending Team and Credit Officer on day-to-day activities. The Credit Analyst will work primarily with the Credit Officer to analyze creditworthiness of commercial and/or consumer borrowers, prepare detailed credit memorandums, and support in underwriting decisions that align with the Bank’s policies and standards. This role works closely with the Lending Team, Credit Team, and other Personnel/Management to evaluate financial performance, assess repayment capacity, identify risk factors, and help maintain the Bank’s loan portfolio. The Credit Analyst will be responsible and accountable for adherence to Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to banking. The ideal candidate for this position is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of providing exceptional service and communication to both Bank employees and external customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: · Review and interpret financial statements, tax returns, cash flow analyses, and related potential borrower information to assess credit worthiness, repayment capacity, collateral adequacy, and overall risk.· Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and loan presentations for management and Board committees while meeting established deadlines.· Perform financial spreading and market trend analysis.· Calculate and analyze key financial ratios and conduct industry/market research to support credit underwriting decisions.· Work closely with the Commercial Lending Team by analyzing all relevant loan data on new, renewal and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other financial institutions, and Greater State Bank files.· Assist with annual loan portfolio reviews as needed.· Maintain accurate records and documentation within loan and credit systems.· Comply with all established bank policies and procedures.· Effectively manage the Bank’s exposure to identified risks, and recommend appropriates structure in accordance with Greater State’s credit policy.· Oversee and manage financial information within credit files to assure current reports, statements, accounts receivable listings, and other information on customer accounts.· Effectively communicate with Bank Management, Loan Officers, Credit Team, and customers in a clear, accurate, and concise manner.· Manage a high volume of loan activity through new originations while maintaining confidentiality regarding new requests and existing portfolio.· Complete all assigned Compliance Training and adhere to security, audit, and compliance requirements.· Perform any other duties as defined by Management. Education, Work Experience, and Skills Requirements: · Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field is required.· Work experience in credit analysis, underwriting, accounting, or other related financial services is preferred.· Commercial Banking experience is a plus.· Understanding of financial statements/tax returns, cash flow analysis, and accounting principles.· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Microsoft Excel) and other financial analysis/banking tools.· Ability to write professional correspondence and credit memos.
